Superior actually has the power to do something, but only if they know about the wrong doing2. If you go to public forums and start complaining about everything, your story is less credible and the superiors are less likely to actually believe you3. Cheese Posted August 4, 2011 Author Report Posted August 4, 2011 its just them making up reasons later as usual i would 'talk to a superior', except thats a hilarious joke, as anyone higher than them is never anywhere to be foundthese forums have the greatest possibility of a message being received by dr brain, the zone owner, who is indeed quite superior his absence is really turning the zone into a joke, as in the past month alone ive been degranted collectively a million dollars for zero reason, 500k for zero reason, and received a 7 day ban for saying dick or something stupidly insignificant and since superiors are never present, youll notice this forum receives a large amount of abuse posts lately, except they all get locked by swift warrior, someone who never shows up in hyperspace except to add irrelevant words like 'constitution' to the obscene list once a year because for some reason he still has powers in the zone.
Swift Warrior Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 For the record, I am sick and tired of people repeatedly complaining in forums and NOT ONCE TALKING TO ME (with the exception of 1 case that was handled) about the issue. Because of that I added harassment rule as well as lame behavior rule under the official F1 help pages. I know people love to mess around with new staffers but the recent events are just getting out of hand, and usually the same group of people doing it, or people with personal grudges. Because of that, harassment rule will be up to the staff and punishment up to them. Some criteria are in place for enactment of harassment rule:1. Past history of offenses2. Degree of harassment/inappropriate behavior3. Continual complaining to public forums without consulting superiors

The rules are also more specific for staffers now.Just consider the fact that he was still degranted 50k the result of his previous behavior.

Also cheese a zone really belongs to no one. Except who pays for it. But even further than that, it belongs to who plays there, so if you have 100 people, 1% of the zone belongs to each person. It's not spidernl's zone, unless he pays for the server. So what he want's and what he thinks solely should not matter at all. Instead it's what the collective community might want or think. If even one person likes your trolling, or is enjoying a conversation with you. Then you are breaking no rules. The other 10 people have to use ignore. People in development and staff need to realize, what being a real volunteer means. Because that's what they are. They are there not to serve themselves, but to help others, and build the community up. If you are harming your own players because you can't handle a few words, or feel your entitled to the world for all your work, then you are doing nothing but harming the own zone you want to create. If you can't deal with people, or don't want to, and if the only way you can volunteer is by doing your own personal shit for everything, then you need to quit, because your no longer a volunteer but an idiot. If Dr Brain wants to shut it down, completely ruin the settings for his own amusement or ban everyone at random, he can do so just fine.As he's likely said before: Hyperspace is not a democracy.

And to pick and choose who gets to play there, on the basis of strict rules for those objectives. If you admit that openly, and tell everyone that. Then that's fine, and you will get whatever players you can from that way of thinking and running a zone. Which I doubt would be a lot. However if you continue to run a zone this way, yet promote something else, to fool people and get new players. Then that is a problem. It's one thing to run your zone for yourselves, and admit it. And another thing to run your zone for yourselves, and then fool people into thinking its for them, just because its convenient for you, and you will get players there. That would be being a hypocrite for your own ends, and lacking integrity and honesty. This was the problem with DSB. They did everything for themselves, felt entitled, that they were above the players, always had to be right, and had to much pride to compromise. Yet at the same time they tried to fool people into thinking it was a community effort, and not a zone which only belongs to one guy. They were two faced. And when you have someone like me constantly showing their contradictions, they basically stumbled over their own feet often. As long as your not giving people false notions that they have any rights. Only brain has rights, and he makes the zone the way he wants, and decides everything. Enriching pristine gas clouds with the chemistry of life. So we are all connected to each other biologically; to the earth chemically, and to the rest of the universe atomically. I am not relating HS to DSB. They are by far different zones, with settings, and mechanics that differ. I am saying however that the staff, who are comprised of people, who are made up of atoms similar to those of the people in DSB, who were also staff. Have a bad misconception of what being a leader is, a volunteer, and have a poor attitude when it comes to making a fun environment and running a zone properly. Edited August 4, 2011 by Avast

This is an entirely different environment. Think of HS like the Galápagos Islands. Given it's special environment --being completely isolated-- the evolutionary rate is on a whole different scale then the rest of the world. Cheese himself, and most of the population, is quite well aware that he is, on purpose, trying to find the limits of staffers like me. He has been doing so for as long as I remember him being in Hyperspace. I will admit that that degrant was largely out of 'emotional involvement', and was for the 'offense' overly harsh. Anyone can see that. However, anyone can also see that Cheese has been trying to provoke this for years. And to Avast, really, the community in Hyperspace isn't the same as DSB's. Although this thread gives a wrong impression, there are few real conflicts between staff and players.
