lots of good laughs here

Cheese!> pick a number 1-1000?

Cheese!> 3 numbers?

Spidernl> Pick a number from 1-100

Spidernl> So I actually bother

Noldec> Pick 6 numbers, 1-42

Spidernl> rofl

Spidernl> Yeah, because someone will win that

Cheese!> i think im going to make it 1-1000, and have it be 1k per ticket

Spidernl> Lol @ a million

Cheese!> first person to guess the number right gets it all though

Google Chr> ns

Spidernl> What's the jackpot gonna be, 800k+?

Cheese!> its really a megajackpot

Noldec> or do what euromillions uses

Spidernl> It better be far over 500k

Cheese!> yes

Spidernl> And rise per ticket

Spidernl> or I cba to

Cheese!> it will buy you ad if u win this lottery

Spidernl> lol

Spidernl> 250k

c0NtInUuM > should be 1m.

Cheese!> and thats if its a small jp

Cheese!> :p

Spidernl> You have to spend 1 mill to get 250k

Spidernl> Sounds worthwhile

Cheese!> u have to spend 1k to get 1k-1000*1k

Cheese!> idiot

Spidernl> what

Spidernl> That's a negative amount

Cheese!> whats 1k

Cheese!> 1k

Spidernl> 1k-1000*1k

Cheese!> whats 1000 * 1k

Cheese!> 1000000

Noldec> do this

Spidernl> So you have to spend 1k to get 0

Noldec> The player selects five main numbers which can be any integer from 1 to 50;

Noldec> The player selects two different lucky star numbers from a pool of 11 numbers.

Cheese!> therefore u pay 1k to get between 1k and 1000k

Spidernl> 1k - 1000 = 0, 0 * 1k = 0

Cheese!> idiot

Spidernl> You don't spend 1k and win

Spidernl> You spend a lot of 1ks to win

Cheese!> what if you guess the right number the first time

Cheese!> u win 1k

Cheese!> idiot

Spidernl> That doesn't happen

Noldec> ofc it does

Cheese!> unfortunately you didnt happen

Spidernl> LOL SO IF YOU WIN RIGHT AWAY YOU GET 1K ROFL

Spidernl> That's so rigged it's not even funny

Cheese!> spidernl: is too stupid to understand how a lottery works

Spidernl> ?$*#!*

Cheese!> someone needs to log this

Spidernl> Go download BaK-'s casino

Noldec> I am

Spidernl> It has a lottery

Cheese!> awesome

WhiskeyTan> I am too

Noldec> 10k for logs

Spidernl> Maybe you can learn from that

Spidernl> It starts at about 50k

Spidernl> 100 tickets

7:UB-SuperBank> WallBomb has opened an account!

7:UB-SuperBank> Be sure to welcome them into our new elite club! :)

c0NtInUuM > o

Google Chr> lag?

Spidernl> $1k per ticket or something

Cheese!> its too early D:

Spidernl> That is worthwhile because you can get lucky and profit

Google Chr> :p

WallBomb> for what

Cheese!> im still writing the bank

Cheese!> lol

Spidernl> Instead of buying 50 tickets and having a chance TO WIN YOUR MONEY BACK!!!111one

TW!$T3D> ok work time

TW!$T3D> gl

Spidernl> yeah.. right..

TW!$T3D> have fun

Spidernl> l8r twist

WallBomb> o well 10k dosnt bother me

Cheese!> ill credit u when i finish it

WallBomb> sounds fair

Spidernl> Lol &%$!*% doesn't get that in order to have a try, people want to be able to win more than their investment, not 'up to' their investment.

Cheese!> clearly you are stupid

Spidernl> Your system is like a bot which you give $1000, and can win between $0 and $1000 every bet.

Spidernl> lol %@#&%! so dumb

Cheese!> http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=lottery

Cheese!> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lottery

Cheese!> start reading, idiot

Spidernl> Sorry, but you clearly don't get it.

Spidernl> Your lottery does not work like that last link.

Spidernl> At all.

Spidernl> In most of the world, a lottery works like this:

Spidernl> Start of the month: BUY A LOTTERY TICKET FOR A CHANCE TO WIN $1046757844536!

Cheese!> The purchase of lottery tickets cannot be accounted for by decision models based on expected value maximization.

Cheese!> The reason is that lottery tickets cost more than the expected gain, so one maximizing expected value should not buy lottery tickets

Cheese!> that means you never read anything, idiot

Cheese!> why am i still talking to the zone idiot

Spidernl> !@$!, your system is retarded as there's no reason at all to buy a ticket.

Spidernl> If you get lucky and win like in your first 100 purchases, you won't profit.

Spidernl> While you should technically profit because well, you got lucky in a game of chance.

Cheese!> noone profits

Cheese!> the money is displaced

Cheese!> idiot

Spidernl> So why bother

Cheese!> fun

Spidernl> Why would I want to give other people money

Spidernl> If I have no chance of personal gain

Cheese!> to win theirs

Cheese!> do u understand yet, idiot?

Spidernl> The first buyer has no profit opportunity at all

Cheese!> or are you still dumb

Spidernl> !*@&$% you're hilarious. You're defending your broken system.

Spidernl> The first lottery ticket buyer has to have some reason to have a try, and if that reason is 'winning their money back', they probably won't bother (unless they're stupid).

Noldec> o lame

Spidernl> If that reason is 'Win a large sum of money if you get lucky!', then they might.

Spidernl> But that reason doesn't exist till SOMEONE ELSE has a try.

Spidernl> Lol.

Spidernl> Ah well I give up %*@?%@ is too dumb to understand.

its like we have an avast #2

The funny part about this is that Cheese doesn't actually realize his own stupidity, judging from the fact that he posted this.

I wonder if he really doesn't understand that nobody wants to buy a lottery ticket just so they have a minimal chance of winning their money back (best case scenario) and a huge chance of.. well.. not winning anything.

I mean.. nobody can be that stupid, right? Cheese must be acting this just to cause a scene.

The idea in a real lottery is that you put in like $5 and have a chance to win $5,000,000. Not that you put in $5 to have a chance to win $5.

Edit: This doesn't belong in this part of the forum by the way, can you please learn to put this kind of silliness in the trash talk part of the Hyperspace forum, so it doesn't have to be moved?

I know, I know, it's difficult for you to learn new things. You really should try, though.

Edit 2: I'll demonstrate with Average Joe playing Cheese's lottery:

Joe> Hey, look at this bot. You can play lottery on it!

Joe> Alright, so Cheese, how much is one ticket?

Cheese> $1000.

Joe> That's not too expensive. How much can I win? And how many possible ticket numbers are there?

Cheese> Well, no-one's played before you, so currently the jackpot is $0. There are 1000 ticket numbers.

Joe> That's weird. How much will it be after I buy a ticket?

Cheese> $1000.

Joe> So basically what you're telling me is, I have to buy a ticket to have a 1/1000 chance to win back my money?

Cheese's lottery system is confusing as hell.

Heres the issue and confusion:

1. There is no specified minimum jackpot, like most lotteries do it (minimum 1 million$ jackpot starting for 1$ ticket for example)

2. No mention of how jackpot rises per purchased ticket

Honestly, a Lottery should not be that hard to understand, but the way the conversation went, sounds like its trying to be a non-standard lottery.

yeah cheese messed it up. i understand where hes coming from and can see where he got confused but just admit you messed up and/or want to steal money looool

why not by default have a 500,000 jackpot to start?

I like Cheese's idea better. Let the pool pay for itself.

It's just that there's absolutely no reason to play until someone else has, and the first player is essentially donating to someone else's jackpot.

I don't see it working in practice unless someone rich decides to donate with it.

its a bot i wrote in C last night, and its on ?chat=SuperBank

also, i routed a small percentage of all monetary losses to the lottery jackpot

now you have a chance to win back anything you lost, and the jackpot will get bigger over time

So, you're allowed to blacklist mods from your bot? Don't think so... In my opinion all mods should have access to the !shutdown command. Either way, I guess if it breaks any rules I could always kick or ban it.

!shutdown was added because bots keep reconnecting and the zone gets spammed with ^banned entering and leaving.
