Samapico Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Which arena is that... These happen to be the same tracks I created... makes me wonder if he copied the maps... I was actually working on a racing module myself. But I was focusing on keeping track of players' position along the track. Ghosts and overlays would have been next. And it's nice usage of lvz move magic with those cubes... Quote
Dav Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 that is awesome! Might have to play with that when I get a chance Quote
»Lynx Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Whoa, that's one of the coolest SS arenas I've seen in a long time. Quote
Dr Brain Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Whoa, that's one of the coolest SS arenas I've seen in a long time.I second that. Good job, whoever is responsible. Quote
»Xog Posted July 29, 2011 Author Report Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) Look above the mini map, it changes as he goes through the menus. Oh and sadly I'm the only person that actually finds this interesting on the tw forums. Edited July 29, 2011 by Xog Quote
Cheese Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 im wondering what theyre usingbecause that lancaster had alpha transparency, which really isnt possible with .40 Quote
»Xog Posted July 29, 2011 Author Report Posted July 29, 2011 could just be a straight up lvz with a sprinkle of magic. Quote
Samapico Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 Where do you see transparency on the ship?? Edit: oh.. the ghost... hmmm I really want to see the .lvz's of that thing Quote
Cheese Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 if the ghost was by lvz that would be terrible for bandwidth Quote
Samapico Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 Well.. sending a lvz toggle+move packet cannot be much worse than sending a fake player's position packet... And if you want bandwidth rape, I guess these 3D cubes involve 1 lvz move for each of them on every playermove... or am I missing some obvious way to do it? Quote

Post the link to these forums on TW forums; if he's interested on expanding on how he's done this I'm sure there are plenty of people here who are all ears. Quote

»Xog Posted July 29, 2011 Author Report Posted July 29, 2011 well kudos to Xog for recognising the hard work that went into it and the cool features implemented ' date=' unfortunately i'm not really able to answer your guys questions it's not me racing (obviously anyone who seen me race i'd hit the wall at every corner) and i had nothing to do with the coding. but yea apparently the guy that did has canned the project and quit the game shortly after i also did last december, he asked me to post this but also to remain nameless , dunno if that will change.[/quote'] Fuck. There are certain parts of the ship (the spider, as I've only seen it on there so far) that are actually transparent. I've been using this map pack for a while and I JUST noticed it! I was playing a ?go base match in TW and I flew over a team's javelin and noticed his javelin color was bleeding through my ship! Quote
Samapico Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 ... Can you give a link to this "psychedelic" gfx pack? Quote
»Xog Posted July 31, 2011 Author Report Posted July 31, 2011 (edited) ah dangit, it's not up here on the new site. the cache is here http://webcache.goog...=www.google.com and this was the link: http://files.ssgn.net/download.php?id=11 Edited July 31, 2011 by Xog Quote
Cheese Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 but then that means all lancasters look like that Quote
»Xog Posted July 31, 2011 Author Report Posted July 31, 2011 but then that means all lancasters look like that I'm not sure if you've played F1Spirit before in TW, but there are only a few ships that are designed for racing in it. The lanc, and the jav I believe. Those are the only two ships with different settings I think. So that leaves the possibility that whoever did this, changed the to the lanc "ghost" ship. Go-Go-Gadget-Press-Post-6-Times-To-Make-A-Reply Is it just me or do you guys have to click a link 2 times in order for it to load? Quote
Samapico Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 The psychedelic gfx pack definitely has no transparency... the ships just have some black pixels in them. They're in bitmap format anyway, which doesn't have an alpha channel. The easiest way to achieve such ghosting effect is to add a black "grid" of pixels on the image so that it's half transparent. Maybe it's the video compression because of youtube, but the ghost ship doesn't look like it's simply using this trick. I took a screenshot of the video at 1:50 Edit: Used 42.71MB of your 20MB global upload quota ... hmmmmmmm... Edit2: wth... now it says Used 0bytes of your 8MB global upload quota... 8MB is the per-post limit, not global... whatever. Quote
PoLiX Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 Seems the upload limits got tweaked during upgrade. Will look at them... I think the best bet is like xog said. It is trench wars, and you definately wouldn't wanna run that track in a lev, unless you're really that insanely bored and patient. Figuring the ghost is just another ship (say the lev for the sake of it), it would make sense. Transparent PNG is something I haven't toyed with much, but I'd assume it may be possible? Quote
Dr Brain Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 PNGs do support an alpha channel, but Continuum ignores it. Only completely black pixels are transparent in-game, regardless of image format. Quote
Samapico Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 Seems the upload limits got tweaked during upgrade. Will look at them...I increased it to 100MB for the Administrator group, and now it says '0 bytes of 8MB used'... pretty weird. Quote
