»doc flabby Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 How many people here own an android device? I'm thinking of porting my code from SubspaceMobile i never finished over to android, worth giving a try? Quote
dezmond Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) Trench Wars current has a android app in dev being created, all I can say atm is the app contains a chat client that works but will only connect to tw. But your subspace mobile would be able to play the game on your mobile, no? Edited July 20, 2011 by dezmond Quote
Resol Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 I heard Lynx already did a ton of coding towards an android app, get together Quote
»Lynx Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 Hey, @resol: I just focused on getting a chatnet client running on Android; nothing as cool as an actual client. I was working on a chatnet API to make getting them running on both Android and iPhone easier but I got a new job... that pretty much threw that project out the window. @dez: Who's doing the dev for the TW client? @doc: Sounds amazing, why not? If you want help with the coding for something like that I can devote a few hours per week. Quote
Dav Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 All i can say to this is yes please! would make a fantasic addition to the community IMHO. Quote
dezmond Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) Zazu ported Arobas's/mine standalone app into Android. But it's not just a chat app that will be going in for the android, it's a mix of stats for mostly every league we have. Would your chat app only connect to ASSS zones, Lynx? »Lynx Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) Yes, it was chatnet, so would only connect to ASSS zones. To be honest, that was one of the primary reasons as to why I lost all interest (realistically it would probably only get 100-200 downloads, and would probably get canned in reviews as it wouldn't connect to TW/DSB/Subgame servers). As a developer community we should really think of a new way of opening the communication doors so we can develop new things (easily) - I'm not interested in cracking the Continuum encryption, and I am certainly not interested in complicated bouncer systems for messages. Docs client on a phone sounds interesting, though, even if it's not that successful it sounds fun to develop. Edited July 20, 2011 by Lynx Quote
»Purge Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 I own an Android device. I say go for it. Quote
Dav Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Posted 22 July 2011 if nothing else it shows that there is still an interest for this. Quote
Resol Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 It also shows that no one ever finishes anything they start around here. Quote
