Avast Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Yeah saying nothing on topic, and posting a picture totally unrelated to the thread, but all for me, is what we could call a Derailed thread. Meanwhile I gave my opinion on post limit, and forum warnings, as well some forum rules, You could always PM me any pictures you want autographed in the future. But since it can't wait.. http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/7166/trainwreckq.jpg By the way another on topic post here, because I am asking when the Forum Arcade will be up again? See Xog? I hope you learn the difference soon. Maybe try not to devote your whole post to me, if you really cared about not derailing threads. Perhaps you have another motive then.Tips1. Add something on topic about the thread.2. Reply to a point I made first (example you disagree infinity edits, or forum warnings, so on)3. Save the fan letter directed at me for a P.S at the end of your post.4. If you want to talk about me so much, you could try making a thread about me, I love those. Like polix did, dead on good judgment on Polix' part. Edited July 27, 2011 by Avast Quote
PoLiX Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 I noticed the lame time limit on editing, then thought to myself that whoever thought editing should be limited to 5 minutes, must be really lame. But I never thought that person would be you Polix. My opinion of you falls more and more drastically everyday. But keep trying, and you might win my approval. Anyway despite disliking the edit time, I never said anything. Just because no one complained until Cheese did, it does not mean no one noticed it, or that everyone approves of it. I also think editing should be infinity. More freedom no need to have 1 minute edits. Or I will just end up making 10 posts on a page because I couldn't edit original. You could always make a vote, if you really did design these forums for the community and not yourself, then voting is a good idea, rather than changes out of nowhere in hopes no one notices. Warnings on forums? Bad idea, unless you let me warn you also. Then I guess its alright, but anything big red and flashy will just provoke fights, and only serves to belittle people, and show some type of online superiority complex etc. etc. Like when Hoch would ban you and go in your thread that you made, and say Your banned, and when you post back, saying okay but you banned me for no reason, he would just lock your thread after he sabotaged it, and say forums is not a place to discuss bans. Man what an asshole he was. Really even locking threads, and leaving a last comment, saying something like a smart ass is provoking. If you believe in locking it, then there is no need to leave your opinion of the thread after it's locked, unless your a troll. Locked - off topic, is sufficient enough. EVEN better, moved (and no comment) It's always nice to see mods moving things, than locking. If you don't have time to organize, hire me, and I will move threads that are not in the proper spots. But locking them because you are lazy is pretty bad, Fire yourself if your tired of volunteering. But I guess your only human, and not a god like me. Half the time just asking someone in a PM, hey ease up, etc etc, and being nice will solve your problem. I never saw a red warning solve shit however. It just extends, creates, and fuels shit. Also when you banned me from chat, you never asked if I wanted to help you. The proper thing to do is not assume I don't want to help and ban before a question is asked. It was to say, we are here trying to solve some problem. Will you help us test it, or solve it? Depending on my answer, then you could have banned me temporarily. Is this logical to you?Cheese wasn't the first to notice, nor the first to post about it. Just the first to post about it in a thread where it was on topic, or an actual question/suggestion. We use to have editing to 15mins for years (is software default), but at some point it somehow got removed. Was requested by a couple admins that maybe we turn it back on, and so I did. Really, I see no point to going back and editing your post a day later. Most forums don't allow editing over 15-20mins, and all is fine. You make 10 posts on a page regardless. So I doubt anyone will notice a difference. Though I will be expecting your first 2x post to try and prove your point shortly. I see you don't understand the point of the BBCode. Probably because you've never looked into the Technical Support forums threads where "Warning: This could happen" or "Warning: Don't do this" could be very useful. It can also say alert, or anything you want in the red. But the forums do have a private warning system, though we rarely use it. Maybe I didn't want your help? Nor really ever have? Ever thought of that? Quote
Avast Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Is it possible to make it so normal posts edits are within 15 minutes, but the first post of a thread you start can be edited indefinitely? This pretty much would solve everything. Because some people make lists, rosters that need editing again, or technical things, project lists that need updates.. 10 posts was an exaggeration, but I have done 2 posts before because the edit ran out. Then the BBCode is fine if it's used for technical reasons. Quote
Avast Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Your a Mod Polix, edit timer doesn't apply to you, and you can edit things whenever you want. Right? So you deny people a luxury you have? Someone else in this thread already said it for the very same reason. Rosters, Lists, Technical things, Updates, all these things need ongoing edits, especially if your a topic starter, and usually that stuff is in the first post, as well as being stickied topics. Cheese Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 anyone dumb enough not to know what "you're" means and calls themselves a "troll god" is truly a dumb faggot PSnot having an edit button is stupid Quote
Avast Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 (edited) Your* still mad about that cheese? Not knowing and not wanting are two different things, the only idiot is you for actually assuming I don't know. However I know it annoys many grammar nazi's so I am a troll god. After all if I was good at spelling or anything it would just earn me respect, the least of all things a troll wants. I don't know whats worse, calling myself a troll god, or calling myself cheese. At least I don't hide my age, name, location etc. I am actually very upfront, and direct. It's funny how I get banned everywhere for saying less than that. And I usually don't direct whole posts at people Ie, what I think of them, or what I dislike, or what they are about. I Love talking about myself though. I guess I am just more popular. Thats why I get banned and I don't even need to call people fagots to earn a ban. Edited July 28, 2011 by Avast Quote
PoLiX Posted July 30, 2011 Author Report Posted July 30, 2011 Tweaked it so the "Featured File" is only shown to Guests (target audience anyways) & Admins (to make sure it is kept set to Continuum & such) Quote
