»Lynx Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 As far as I can tell (I'm no shell pr0) it's having trouble creating directories, and I'm not entirely sure why. It's also unable to create the little hello world application (to test if the Mac can compile - or has XCode) and again; seemingly for the same reason. If you like you can add me on Skype or AIM (krslynx) and I'll try and walk you through the error - or if you're planning a re-install we'll try and figure it out then. Quote
findingemo Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 I appreciate the offer but then I'm going to be on the road for a while so its hard to get uninterrupted internet. I'll keep you updated haha Quote
»Xog Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 I had a dream that I purchased a mac, and I wanted to play continuum so I downloaded it and installed it using the windows installer. Quote

thix Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 So lynx, how close are you to finishing the direct-click-application-icon thing? I'm a bit nervous that the amount of work my mac does to use Continuum for many hours a day can't be good for its longevity. Quote
»Lynx Posted August 8, 2011 Author Report Posted August 8, 2011 Hi, I'm currently writing another application while dealing with my usual work and social life however the launcher will not minimalise the workload on your Mac as you'll still be running WINE. However, computers are designed to be run at 100% load, and when you're not running at 100% load you're wasting all those lovely CPU cycles; don't worry though - it doesn't effect your computers longevity. I have a few old Dell computers running now that haven't been rebooted in a couple years and they typically always have a pretty high usage (I donate their resources when they're not in use by me). They're doing brilliantly and I've had them since <2004. Basically once the aforementioned application is finished i'll be free for a few days while we're mailing - I'll only be doing R&D so I should have more free time for Subspace. I'll send you a message when I've updated the installer. ;-) Quote
valate Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 Will someone please help me with some 1-on-1 contact on skype? my skype: psCaleb I am absolutely terrible at understanding macs. I do, however, have a very slight background in Wine, and porting. So please someone! And if you know someone I can contact, just reply on this thread or PM or add me on skype or, SOMETHING. I've been dying to play Continuum, haven't played it in years now. Quote
spiffyguy Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 (edited) I JUST recently got Continuum working on the mac and it is AWESOME! I have it packaged in a Wineskin bottle so it's as easy as just double clicking the app to run! Here is the Mediafire link:[ LINK REMOVED PLEASE SEE POST LATER IN THIS THREAD FOR UPDATED VERSION ] Enjoy! - Matt PS: It's around 90mb and has been tested on 10.7.1 and 10.6.8!PSS: Sound works for a couple of minutes then cuts out but doesn't seem to affect gameplay FYI. »Lynx Posted October 2, 2011 Author Report Posted October 2, 2011 This is a great way of installing Continuum. Thanks :-) Quote
spiffyguy Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 No Problem! I'm excited I finally got it working seems to work SUPER smooth in fullscreen mode but in window mode it's laggy... But hey I am not complaining I will just play full screen! BTW, do you know the guys that run getcontinuum.com? I would love for this version to be available for all mac users that want to play the game. I think the wineskin package I made is the simplest for all non-tech users! - Matt Quote
Guest kevin Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 I am excited to try this method! I hope it works for me... I'm not too familiar with all the technical stuff, so I'm hoping this little link download does the trick! Quote
Guest greg Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Heya Matt! Awesome job on the SS Wineskin client! I got it running on my Macbook running Snow Leopard. Have you had any luck getting the sound working yet? It'd be great to have that working! Cheers! and Thanks! Quote

spiffyguy Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) eSpO~, that log you posted says you are running Leopard ( 10.5.8 ) I know wineskin is SUPPOSED to run on 10.5 BUT I had to edit and make a custom wine engine in order for continuum to work. So it's 10.6.4 and up so please update to at least Snow Leopard! Good luck! Also on sound I have not made progress, but there has been some new versions of wine I want to test out and let you guys know! - Matt Edited January 27, 2012 by spiffyguy Quote
Guest dannboy2110 Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 works great just no sound or page up page down banner doesn't display can't view stats Quote
Guest BananaMan Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 Thank you for this but I'm having an issue. Sometimes the client will just freeze when I am playing. I can command+q to get out of it and restart but I was curious if you knew why this would be happening? Quote
valate Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 works great just no sound or page up page down banner doesn't display can't view stats Put the Continuum application on your desktop, right click it, and select "Show Package Contents"Click drive_c > Program Files > Continuum > banners> Find any banner you wish here and download the .jpg fileDrag the .jpg into the "banners" folder above Open Continuum, enter a zone, and set your new banner using "Esc+b" Thank you for this but I'm having an issue. Sometimes the client will just freeze when I am playing. I can command+q to get out of it and restart but I was curious if you knew why this would be happening? This happens to me also, but more severely. Say if I decide to play Windowed, turn up what limited graphics Continuum offers, or run to many programs at once, Continuum will freeze, but unlike what you say, I can't "command+q" to restart it. I need to restart my mac which I feel is slowing killing it. I also noticed it does that the first few times you open Continuum. After playing on the portered version for mac now for about 4-6 months, it rarely freezes. Time should fix your issue. Quote
Diwa Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 Oh Man!!! I can't even say how much I've missed playing Subspace since I got my Mac. Playing with no sound, Shitty framerates, random freezes (I've actually only had one so far), and a little KeyRemap4MacBook to work around keyboard stuff, I'm so happy right now. Need to get my Subspace reflexes back now Or what little reflexed I had Quote
Guest Colin Posted July 22, 2012 Report Posted July 22, 2012 Anyone having problems opening in fullscreen? I can open in window but it is real laggy. please help Quote
»Lynx Posted July 22, 2012 Author Report Posted July 22, 2012 Unfortunately I don't have a Mac any-more so I can't really debug why things aren't working out. Liking the look of the new retina MBP though. ;-P If you can try and get it working in 16bit colour you'll find the full screen frame rates are much better but last time I compiled with XCode 16 bit wasn't supported. Thank you Quote
