Returning squads, please post here, or ?message me (?message Caerbannog+:hello glorious bunny leader, we will return <3<3) I can figure out what squad you're doing it for, as long as you use your rostered captain name to send it.

 

Chaos / other zones' players who are not in a squad, but would like to be involved in 4v4 post here. If no squad picks you up before the draft you will be in the player pool. If there's enough of you, I will force first round of draft to be picking up the new people. (However, letting you ever play will probably not be enforced).

What we know for sure:

Season 30 will be fixed schedule.

- This has plenty or pros and cons.

Playoff split (yes, there will be one) will still work W/L -> Tied group HtH W/L -> Tied and above HtH W/L -> Tied K/D -> Tied and above K/D. This way the teams that performed best within the tied group should make it. Of course moving Tied and above HtH above plain tied HtH kinda makes sense too.

 

What is likely:

Depending on how many "real" squads we have, we might be / will be adding in DRAFT teams. They would/will be in it to win it. The rules regarding roster size etc. would be flexible with them. Late player entries would only be admitted to "real" squads, or to draft squads. If/when draft squads, the captains of which we'd decide at a later date, but soonish, so they can draft once we have the available players to draft from and a rough idea of how many draft squads we need for an even number of teams

to be honest i thought this game was completely dead since the old forums were gone, the stat site was gone and the zone was empty (at euro times).

 

if rebels dont play next season ill put my name forward to cap a draft squad.

I might be interested. When & how often are league matches? I haven't played since the first or second season of IML.

 

Games are on Sundays 3pm and 4pm EST unless for some odd reason we get a bunch of new squads, then we'll add in 2pm.

If you're only on a draft team you'd have one game per Sunday. If you're also on a real squad you would have 2, although you might only be able to play in one due to the schedule..

I'd imagine Rebels are returning, but since draft squads will be allowed to host double squadders (they will mostly be composed of existing players), would you still captain one?

In lieu of an "anybody want to sign up? anyone at ALL? thread", this seems the best place:

 

While I am incapable of playing Subspace in any quality form, and have lag now (due to dodgy phone line) which would make Turbotron proud, I'm happy to end up on some n00b squad of nochancers in case there's ever a day when they can only find 3 players for a match and are seriously deluded enough to believe that the inclusion of me would somehow be preferable to playing with 3.

 

My reliability is very poor due to my home circumstances (when you see me wandering about its usually 5am my time and I'm only there because I can't sleep), and my knowledge of playing conservatively, intelligently, or even while actually looking at the screen, is minimal, but maybe there's some others of a similar (lack of) skill that might see this and offer themselves, knowing that there's at least 1 player out there whom they can kill easily.

 

I am honestly completely terrified of playing Subspace as a team game, especially when my contribution is actually logged! I really only ever play for myself, and had always shied away even from the 2v2 arenas in Alpha West's battle boxes.

 

But just in case I'm not the only idiot at my level for whom this has crossed their mind, then I guess I can be tacked onto a list of some worst team in case they need the bums on seats. I have recently been practicing chatting like an arsehole so I guess that's some prepwork.

 

I would love to see more squads play 4v4 to keep the league seasons alive. It seems that there are players in Chaos who MIGHT have thought of trying it out (for fun), except that the lowest AML team seems way above them. From my perspective, its like the league teams split into Pro and IML finals, and I'm well below the AML that isn't actually even here.

 

I was thinking that, if I just mentioned this, maybe a couple more from my neck of the woods might decide that ... "well, there's someone I can not be worse than, anyway."

 

So if some crappy new squad wants to form for lols then I guess my name can be stuck on a list, to help in case you get in a pinch. NOT on a decent team's list though. NO FUCKING WAY!!!!

That's a pretty solid sales pitch. If only we had enough of, for lack of better word, newbies to enforce them to be drafted to draft teams in round 1 it'd be fantastic. There are players in chaos pub all the time who would like to try 4v4 but won't even join our pracs when we spam for one player repeatedly on the basis of us not letting them ever play..

You can't blame El for not wanting to be part of a league that made perhaps the most irresponsible mod choice in the history of SS. The good news is that Surrey has gone on a hiatus after choking the season, resulting in losing in the first round of AML finals. Hopefully he will stay away for good, only time will tell. Since he continually writes checks with his mouth that he can never cash, i think he has finally settled down enough and learned to keep his mouth shut.

RE DRAFT

 

Will this run alongside regular league? I don't get it. Surely it just spreads a thin player base even more thinly.

 

Perhaps it would be better to ditch draft and focus on setting up an automated league instead?

 

Also, I asked Ra, who askd Masterlord if Rebels are returning and Master said that if we want to play he'll bring us back. So I'm pretty sure thats a YES for Rebels but I'll confirm with Master/Ra.

S30 plan / mock up:

14 man rosters from people of the captains choosing, so called "real" squad. Like Rebels, Assassins.

14+X man rosters with a max limit of ... 3? people from one existing squad Draft squads. These rosters will be full of double squadders, plus whoever from chaos or other zones signs up and fails to get a spot on a real squad while showing interest in 4v4.

 

Fixed schedule in one squad pool, so Draft squads play other draft squads and regular squads alike. 3pm slots will mostly have draft squads, so the games should act as practice for the players in a 3pm draft squad whose real squad plays at 4. Or this will totally fail when people opt to prac with their real squads.

 

 

So we could have elf on Rebels and elf2 on Team Penis, a draft squad.

 

The reason for doing this in one league is simple. Sunday time slots are limited, and 4v4 players generally verbally protest against playing on saturdays. Chaos players prefer Saturdays, but I doubt they'd sign up to a draft pool for a side league no matter the date.

I'll mock it up some more at a later date, but various aspects on what even makes sense to try or do for this desparation attempt at at least giving the active people something to do depend on squads returning. We'll want to end up around 12-14 squads total if possible to start with.

 

 

By automated league do you mean something bot heavy that involves a challenge / accept system that our oh-so-active captains have to use?

yes, but u can have "assistants" who have power to accept delegated to them.

 

on a roster of 14 lets say 3 captains, 5 assitants.

 

over 1/2 the roster can accept/deny challenges..

 

can even run this automated league, in which games can be played at anytime, alongside the main league in which games are only played on sundays.

Added the external players who have shown interest in all this to the newbie draft pool. There are four, if we count Voyd. Eventually we'll have them drafted first or as extra picks that don't use a roster slot, any way we can to make sure they're in even if not all league will fit into draft squads.

 

After that it's kind of up to the captains and the other people on their squad to guide these newbies
