Empfindsamer Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Hey there I used to play Hyperspace semi-regularly sometime ago (can't remember my old username though, twas on a different computer I think - so I made a new account. I hope that's acceptable under these conditions)All I remember is that I stopped playing because for some reason I started lagging out every time I tried to play, and then I pretty much just forgot about itI just remembered it today and decided to try playing again, but I keep getting specced for ping fluctuation and it's making the game pretty much unplayable. I'm aware of typical methods of reducing lag, but nothing's working so far. I haven't had any trouble connecting to any other online games, so I was wondering if anyone happened to have any advice/if there was anything specific to hyperspace I should be aware of in order to fix the problem? I'm not particularly savvy in this area, to be honest. It was a bit of a disappointment to log on today and just not be able to play... Anyways I'm not expecting you guys to drop everything and help me resolve the problem, but I'd appreciate any help. Thanks Quote

Thanks There's a few factors that could cause lag, such as an unstable/slow connection, or being far away from the server (or both). You could try www.speedtest.net, that at least shows us whether your connection is up to the task*. *) Not like Continuum should be incredibly demanding in the connection speed department. Arry Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) A fast connection that's over-taxed by other processes on your PC (or other computers sharing your connection) using up your available bandwidth may also cause lag. Edited June 22, 2011 by Arry Quote
Swift Warrior Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Or in the case of me a year ago, your ISP is screwing you over with their overloaded network that was damaged, but did not inform anybody and denied it was actually having issues until I complained to them every single day for a whole month. 6 months later, they finally fixed the network and all my ping fluctuation and spikes went away. Reason ISP didnt care as much is because only picky games requiring minimal fluctuation would be affected, which to them, is an incredibly small market, compared to businesses and residents who just want the internet to work so they can browse the web and stream videos, where fluctuation has basically no effect. Cheese Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 or in more cases, the hyperspace zone lags and you simply can not play due to the poorly written lag modulethats fine, because many of the moderators are corrupt anyways youre better off trying to play a different zone Quote
