Hello everyone. I need your help. I apologize for not attending the Forum as I attend the game. I play since 2002. But today I need help from you guys on the forum. What is happening is that I have trouble opening the game. The following error appears: Continuum. exe. Workstation is turned off. Application Initialization Failed: The workstation is turned off. Every time that happens I have to reformat my hard drive. It happens every day. I do not know what else to do have a bitmap attached.

I have to click the right mouse button on the icon on the desktop and select Run as to run the game

Help me

Thanks

What? You reformat your hard drive everyday?

1) Post the full screen image, not a thumbnail... we can't see anything

2) Post a screenshot of the actual error

3) Are you running it on a remote machine, or a virtual machine, or something like that?

Do you get the error only with Continuum? This looks like an error that would make you unable to start most applications.

Reformatting every day doesn't make much sense... Are you reinstalling from a clean Windows DVD that you are sure is virus-free?

Also, why are you reformatting all the time if it doesn't fix the problem? If you still get the error after reformatting once, it's pretty useless to reformat 10 times to see if it still happens...

And if you can run it fine with 'Run as...', why don't you simply use that workaround?

This problem has come up before.

Sadly we never found a solution, though I know the player eventually fixed it, but never posted how.

The last post was asking if they tried turning off overclocking.

Searching the internet, noone has a solution to this issue with almost any application. Almost seems like a hardware issue over a software issue reading everything tried...

Frankly I do not know what happens. In my opinion is hax. I was almost 16 months without this problem. Actually this is pretty annoying. I have ADSL internet at home only because of this game. A Wi-Fi, meets my need as User domestic. But I love this game.

So far everything is in order.

I hope not to have to formatr so soon again.

Since already I thank all the help.

Thanks a lot

If you can honestly say that you've performed a CLEAN install on your hard drive to attempt to solve this issue, it's about time to start ruling out software issues. Before we do that, do you have all the drivers for your system? See here: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm

RAM issues are known to cause random errors in applications and Windows in general however, it's rare that it consistently causes the same problem for one specific application. I would run a memtest on your RAM just to be sure, especially considering the age.

Does anyone know if this can be an issue with his version of Windows? Not sure of the language, but maybe it's an incompatibility? Just saying.

Do you have all the windows updates?

Cause... this is definitely a message Windows gives you. I remember seeing this message when I tried to execute something while I was actually shutting down my machine. There must be something that makes Windows think it's shutting down for some reason. Make sure you have SP3 and all the available updates.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. The only time I've seen a DLL init fail is like you said, when Windows is shutting down. However, I have no idea what language that is.
