PoLiX Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 There is a lot of updates I wish to do to SSGN that will take more time than I currently have to give. So to help keep this site moving, I am searching for anyone with web skills willing to help out. Basic HTML/CSS knowledge is a must, and PHP/SQL knowledge a big plus. Don't need much in the way of graphics abilities, though could help. Mostly looking for people to edit/add/help build content. Just comment or e-mail me (polix at ssgn dot net) with your name, alias, location, days/times you're online, skills you have, what you'd like to help do, and why you think you'd be a good addition. Thanks! Quote
Cheese Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 i can do anything on that list, did a few sites for tw.org, some are still upalways online, but been somewhat busy irl latelyhave 0 skills in gfx, get a guy for that Quote
PoLiX Posted March 20, 2011 Author Report Posted March 20, 2011 http://www.ssgn.net/guide.php - One of the current things I want to start work on. Client section with info about navigating the client. In Game section with info about what is on your screen. Also want to have a few videos of the actions (cheesy ie. This is a repel, click here to see a repel in action.) that they can click on the link in the section, pop it up in a fancy box like the other videos, and play it to see a repel in action and know what it does. Same could be done for bombs, bullets, thors, etc. But just a simple guide with some help from Ajax and remap the image using some CSS to create hover boxes so they know what can be clicked on, etc. Probably use the old SS in game image with all the ships, icons, etc. Really simple to get going, but just need some help getting it all planned out. PoLiX Posted March 20, 2011 Author Report Posted March 20, 2011 Honestly, right now, simple stuff. Page content edited, some added, idea tank. There use to be a lot of content, but so much was dynamic, and not being dynamically updated, so took it down. But HTML and CSS would be the major work. PHP/SQL work is optional, but I am willing to teach, and there is a lot of code I have been implementing that not everyone uses regularly. So a lot can be learned there too with sockets (connecting to zone to get pop), ajax, etc. Maybe min... 2-4hrs/week is all I ask. More appreciated. Lemme know. Quote
PoLiX Posted March 20, 2011 Author Report Posted March 20, 2011 Oh, and I run a CMS called IP.Content It does allow raw php coding, and is built right into the forum software. Allows easier page/template management, while giving the freedom to code anything you can outside of a cms. But it does make page editing very simple tbh, can even just copy and paste another page, and edit it. Would rather people understood the stuff, but can be a good start to understanding. Quote
PoLiX Posted March 20, 2011 Author Report Posted March 20, 2011 Got 3 people so far. 3 other maybe. Wanna have like 5 or 6 total. Quote
Beer Hunter Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Hello there SSGN forum viewers, I signed up to help. I know basic html and css stuff, have done a few websites as well. Currently looking for a job irl as website/graphic designer. Still a lot to learn but in this business its endless learning process. Quote
Manwh0re Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Sounds interesting, I have some of those skills =) Quote
Avast Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 (edited) I have around 8 hours free everyday, can probably dedicate at least one hour or more. I know HTML, and basic CSS. Making squad forums for past four years has given me CSS background. I don't know PHP or SQL. Edited March 20, 2011 by Avast Quote
PoLiX Posted March 21, 2011 Author Report Posted March 21, 2011 ATM got 5 people. Might see how things go before I add more. But I still need people willing to post news/events/updates. If interested, lemme know. Quote
PoLiX Posted March 21, 2011 Author Report Posted March 21, 2011 TBH, I would rather not have a negative person such as yourself on staff. I almost never see anything positive come from you, and even when you try, you still put a negative spin on it in some form. So no, you're not one of the 6. --------- On another note, I have asked Avast to do a special project for me dealing with zone news, he'd make 7 if he accepts. Quote
Caerbannog Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 I recreated the old SS helper in flash a few years back (although I did redo the textboxes' contents), I think you can find it from chaos zone's website... or from my secret links. I had a brief chat with Hallu and whoever else was on our staff chat about video instructionals of "This is a repel in action" too ... the settings might be zone specific, but I don't think any zone uses speed=0 or negative sucktion repels Quote
