No_Remorse Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 What about Subspace Continuum? Sounds cooler. That's probably the best solution.
L.C. Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 SubSpace Continuum doesn't roll either. It doesn't look good, it doesn't sound good, it doesn't roll. 'SubSpace/Continuum' is even better than 'SubSpace Continuum' The game is SubSpace, and the client is Continuum. When you are talking to a new person, what are you telling them about? The game? Or the client?
Corey Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 On the moving 'forward part' i have been messaging major youtubers and commenting on their videos about subspace/continuun. Hopefully one of them might say something about it in one of their videos or even have a video of them playing it.
MikeTheNose Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 As above, you neglected to add Subspace Continuum which is what I'd vote for. It's no longer subspace and never really was Continuum.
Yupa Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 You'd know, being the destroyer of an entire zone.
Camel Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 Q: Priitk's Continuum, did he develop a clone of subspace from scratch?
Cheese Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 yes, he made a new program that sent the old subspace signals
PoLiX Posted March 20, 2011 Author Report Posted March 20, 2011 Actually, it was always kinda thought/wondered, and recently major connections were made... Priit may have had access to the source at a point in his development. But that is a WHOLE different topic.
2pacZ Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 What subspace needs to is revamp itself, new platform, new 3D type shit. Advertising is a must.
»Purge Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 thats too longIt's not too long. Two words typically make a title in most games. SubSpace Continuum doesn't roll either. It doesn't look good, it doesn't sound good, it doesn't roll. 'SubSpace/Continuum' is even better than 'SubSpace Continuum' The game is SubSpace, and the client is Continuum. When you are talking to a new person, what are you telling them about? The game? Or the client? You're being too literate. Be aware that newbs won't really care which came first - they just want to know what they're playing. We generally want a name that everyone knows, creates no confusion, and shows Continuum as the successor to Subspace.
MikeTheNose Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 You'd know, being the destroyer of an entire zone. What God create God destroyth.
Avast Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 pro tip:you are not god Or what god created, became gods of their own, and destroyed him. Happens a lot, the student becomes the master, the hunter becomes the hunted, the son outlives the father.
No_Remorse Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 do you ever think before you type things? Do you ever say anything constructive?
Dav Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Personally I think consistency is the most important factor. For a newbie telling them that "you are playing subspace with continuum connecting to an ASSS/Subgame server" is confusing. All a newbie sees when they download is an application called continuum and so as far as they know/care they are playing continuum. The above is why my vote sits solidly in continuum. A history lesson for those that care is good, and I know people are nostalgic about subspace, but thats not an argument against keeping it simple and accessable.
Dr Brain Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 A player is going to download and install it no matter what it's called.A player is going to enter a zone and play (usually Trench), no matter what it's called. That player will stick around if they like the game, and leave if they don't, no matter what it's called.Only then, once the player has decided to stay, will there be any confusion about the name. At that point, we've already won, and it doesn't matter what it's called. Sense a theme here? I do: It doesn't matter what it's called.
freaknigh Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Has the noob really become so stupid they can't hold 2 words in their head at once?

You only have to look at the money spent on branding by large corporations. Tbe amount of money spent repeating the name over and over and over to you. Every new product name you see advertised has been thought though very carefully by the marketing guys, down to the design of the fonts and text of that brand. Its all designed to sell you an idea, that you are buying into. I challenge you to name me a successful product with a name that is not distinctive and descriptive. For example there are really only 3 companies that make washing powder... "procter and gamble" and "unilever" and a 3d one can't rememeber They advertise what is essentially the same product under many different brand names. I suggest we keep both the "Continuum" AND "Subspace" brands - Subspace is the brand for the older experiernced player who "knows" this is the "real" game- Continuum for the young and smart player who knows better than the lazy vets I would argue we need to think of a better name than subspace or continuum and add it to our list of brands
