For all the 'omg y bring up dps if no ship can use it!!' comments: those figures were

just meant to illustrate the massive differences between existing items and..

certain suggestions. Didn't bother with the item delay problem.

 

also, when you bring up dps and convieniently neglect to mention fire cost, it isnt other people youre making look foolish

Making items with more DPS than shredder or salvo is a Bad Idea. They can be extremely overpowered with the right build, regardless of fire cost. And if they're balanced properly, they will require more energy to fire then they inflict for damage.

level 3 gun with 1 delay and 150 Energy using 450 per shot... a spider can barely even get near 11 shots out if at full energy only thing annoying will be cloaking assassin kills.. seems legit enough that a gun like that will be hard to survive with, yet assassinating pretty easy with. O: Well it was a good idea, but the high dps can be a bit devastating...

 

Hmmmm...... must turn on that ol thing in my head for the first time I guess.

Are you very sure?

 

I know that because I never see Brain or D1 chatting in chat, it means they are never doing anything for the zones. TRUFFS!

new idea:

  • LV1 bomb or mine
  • prox
  • weighted random level shrap, lv2 most common
  • pure random amount of shrap 1-10
  • firedelay ~150
  • firecost ~150
  • ability to have 30 shrap with boost&multi
  • limited to ships 2467

That would look quite inconsistent for the user. Or well, it'd be consistent for the user but it would cause a lot of "mysterious" deaths that appear to happen seemingly randomly.

At least, if you "implement" this using some packet hax.

 

Also, I don't like random elements in damage done by weapons. At all.

Is that why we're never going to have the rainbow cannon that shoots 50% l1 25% l2 20% l3 and 5% l4

Probably. If anything I would do it with extraweapon and a burst of random weapon levels, where the first is always the same. That way it looks the way it should.

However, it'd still be random damage which is just annoying. Both for the user when he shoots 4 l1's in a row and for people who randomly die to a burst of insane damage caused by 4 l4's they didn't expect.
