Dr Brain Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 You only need two rails for a single rail gun, and they shouldn't be magnetic. Quote
kevinz000 Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 I MEANT IN HYPERSPACE*FACEPALMS* Quote
kevinz000 Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 ......................wow*facepalms 10 times* how do we get that in subspace? Quote
toxic_intruder Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 some lvz magic, a bunch of warps, and a permaturret Quote
Avast Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 If you make me a space cave for a troll. I will sit in it, and be like a Monster Boss on the Pub map, and everyone who fly's by will get trolled. Oh you could close the cave, and it's like a mission to open the doors, to get the item level ups inside, and they have to defeat me. They actually have a gun that uses Light. I think it's in the US Navy. It heats up anything and destroys it from pretty great distances. It combines 4 Light beams into one. Or heat beams? Not sure. Since it's completely invisible when it fires. It's only in the navy because they use the ocean to pump water to cool it down. It's also pretty huge. Quote
toxic_intruder Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 avast its probably low infrared (aka heat), and most likely a laser since its easier to focus them over distances something like this thing, except bigger: unitednuclear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=27_82 Quote
Avast Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=laser-downs-uavs I figured anyone interested could look it up themselves, but here is a link. It's called Raytheon and its a combination of 6 solid state lasers at 32 kilowatts. Quote
kevinz000 Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 toxic is the only one who posted something useful about railguns, spider do you think its possible? Quote
spidernl Posted August 26, 2011 Author Report Posted August 26, 2011 Sure, railguns are on my to-do list after walking terminator robots, fighter drones, carrier ships and planetary invasions. Quote
Avast Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 (edited) A rail-gun would basically be a Thor with different graphics. Maybe a lasting projectile tail effect. I think the game Infantry, or some subspace zone had something similar. Personally I like Everspaces Warp drive feature. But doubt you can use it, or make your own, or would want to. spidernl Posted August 27, 2011 Author Report Posted August 27, 2011 Stealing Everspace's gameplay mechanics is not on my to-do list. You seem to think that a 'thor with different graphics' (alongside existing thors) and a 'lasting projectile tail effect' are even possible. Quote
toxic_intruder Posted August 28, 2011 Report Posted August 28, 2011 What?? I said something useful? Quote
kevinz000 Posted August 28, 2011 Report Posted August 28, 2011 bouncing positron gun style l4 gun plz Quote
noldec Posted August 28, 2011 Report Posted August 28, 2011 bouncing positron gun style l4 gun plz I've been sticking to there-will-only-be-one-unique-l4-gun for a while now, and that's unlikely to change. Quote
kevinz000 Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 awwwwwwwwwww also reson too undernerfed makes my ship slow as a snail Quote
Samapico Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Also, if you use a thor for a railgun, it's not a railgun cause it will still have the thor's huge blast area. Unless you can spawn thors with less prox than usual, but I don't think you can do that... if you could, you'd just fire a bunch of them in a straight line. But they'd have the thor graphic, and it would be ugly. Quote
kevinz000 Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 dot-dot-dotalso simple railgun bouncing l1 rapid fire railgun like gun 6k exp bulletdelay=little more then shredder bulletlevel:1 bullet energy=shredder bounce:1 sig 60k money Quote
toxic_intruder Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Iirc rail find are slow to reload by nature, unless they have some genius loading mechanism, and that many uranium pellets. Also, op item is op Quote
kevinz000 Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 just get a new gungattlersignaturefires many bullets per second but very inacurate, bullets spread apart(uses extra weapon but extraweapon's bullets spread out so it makes it inacurate)bouncing l2 bullets(or no bounce?)shredder's delayacuracey.........from the orginal firing line to 5 degrees from itbullet energy..........100extra bullets............10-20extra bulletdelay=shredderoriginal bulletdelay=enough time for extra weapon to fire all bullets Quote
spidernl Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 I gotta admit, inaccurate bullets are actually somewhat interesting. Quote
Corey Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Why do we need another railgun? We already have Gigajoulerailgun. On a side note, wouldn't it be possible to actually make a rail gun with the extra weapon? Quote
spidernl Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 A railgun is an entirely electrical gun that accelerates a conductive projectile along a pair of metal rails using the same principles as the homopolar motor. Railguns use two sliding or rolling contacts[1] that permit a large electric current to pass through the projectile. This current interacts with the strong magnetic fields generated by the rails and this accelerates the projectile. Particular characteristics are the lack of propellant (only the projectile and the electrical energy to launch it are required to be expended) and the ability to launch projectiles much faster than firearms-based technology allows. How exactly does that have anything to do with 'extraweapon'? Quote
