Some feedback and opinions on balancing.

- Restrict signature PD to large ships or tone it down; fast weasels have gotten popular as there is no true counter to them.

- Inability to quickly toggle xradar feels more like a bug than a feature. Even Oracle users "flash" xradar to identify cloakers for teammates. The current process feels sluggish.

- The signature gun Proton, as it is currently, seems underpowered.

Good point. It should have a higher speed/thrust decrement on medium-sized ships because of their size.

The Xradar flashing you want will not return*. Honestly, it's not that hard to wait half a second instead of a millisecond to toggle it off.

Plus with the changes I'm making to make it range-based flashing will probably not be a good idea anyways.

 

*) Edit: because it's not possible with the new cloak module. Period.

It IS possible to just outrange the PD and win that way, but it usually takes quite a bit of time and there doesn't seem to be a fast solution (AND it requires a fast ship). Using terrain to your advantage can also be very effective, but something needs to be done to the PD anyway.

proposals:

  • remove the -1 thr from solar

its only +2 recharge, and i know you think that recharge is the devil, but now that the limit is 1 addon, its really not worth it currently

the -spd is tolerable, but thrust is probably worth even more than recharge

it would be acceptable if it didnt eat an addon slot

  • add whatever the anti-tetryon amplifier thing does to oracle

no idea how the L1/L2 cloak stuff works now, but you should add L2 stuff to oracle, as its still pretty bad

  • whats the 'improved pd aim' item supposed to be?

did you make the aim worse deliberately and try to make people buy this to fix it?

kind of a waste of an item

  • add a 'extra 2 supplements' capacity item

theres lots of stuff to choose from, and a lot of ppl dont want an extra emitter

just make another item

  • increase bombdelay to -10 on prismatic

its currently not worth wasting a slot, and most bombs have 200+ delay

or maybe toss on some -firecost

it should at least be comparable to epi, which is a solid item

  • remove the +50 bombdmg from wave

ive had wave on my fat ships for a very long time, but its been annoying ever since the nerf, so i finally got pissed off enough to sell it and buy shock. had it for awhile now, and shock currently works better against thors and large bombs than wave does

meaning that wave is useless, because contrary to popular belief, thors and nova bombs dont always explode at the end of their explodepixels

losers like unix have been abusing thors far more ever since the nerf, because theres currently no bomb armor besides shock

 

 

 

 

also do shields recharge over time, or do you have to break them for them to come back?

He improved PD. Have you seen PD lately, especially with calibration chip? PD needs a nerf, PD with calibration chip, you basically cant get near a PD ship within a certain range, unless you're fast enough its basically unavoidable to get hit. Nerf PD to how it was before, and have calibration chip bring what PD is right now without calibration chip.

There are only about a dozen supplements, and you want "Extra Supplement" to allow you to have 1/3 of the possible supplements? There are some ships that cant even have access to all of them. Emitters need more options tbh, and giving people an incentive to get another emitter, such as xradar or antiwarp is a good thing. Since a lot of people will probably tend to go for that, and the more people that have that for basing, the better.

I do think it should have more bombdelay taken off, seeing as how -6 isnt really noticeable at all, but not too much taken off because the problem comes with the faster shooting bombs, such as salvo and heat reaver. Imagine a jav or levi with prismatic using heat reaver in center, or the super spam of items in bases.

Wave has always had the +50 bombdamage. It's all in your head that wave was nerfed. I have wave on my big ship as well, and I've never had much of any issue with thorrers or splash damage in general. Just because you die from them while playing defensively doesnt mean anything. Wave is quite effective against splash damage, if you think otherwise you're just being an idiot.

 

Also, other armors that help reduce bomb damage: Reinforcement, Faraday Cage, Glow Cover, Radiating Coils (effects inactshrap heavily so should be mentioned), Solid Nutronium, Adamantine Shell. Then for shields you have: Force Shield and Unimatrixshield.

PointDefense originally did not account for velocity whatsoever. It had some code that pretended to do this, but it didn't actually do anything.

I fixed it (honestly I just grabbed some code by JoWie and put it in there, but hey). That caused PointDefense to be horribly overpowered.

 

For that reason, I put in the pdaim property & Calibration Chip so that you have to 'give up' a little more in order to get that kind of aim on PointDefense.

 

Anyways, I'm not really changing a lot about this item set. There's a new one in development, and I'd rather get that one done faster than spend time on the current one.

more ideas:

  • reduce extra addon to $110,000 and 11500xp

there used to be twice as many addons, which is why extra addon was a huge anount of money

the split into supplements reduced the value drastically

  • add extra supplement, extra shrapnel, etc
  • OR possibly split extra technology

why must every extra cap take 2 capacity slots?

add some that only use 1 cap slot, and give minor benefits

Time to check up on said new item set? Is it the same one as the one with weight limits and stuff?
