»SD>Big Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 is she trying to connect for a school/work network? if so, as cheese said, ports may be blocked. if she's connecting from her home internet connection, it could be a software firewall on her laptop, does she have any installed? there's also a chance her home router is blocking it but that is unlikely because by default they do not, someone would have to go out of their way to block the ports. L.C. Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Where are you trying to connect to SubSpace from? Home? College? Work? Quote

L.C. Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 connecting from home. still dont know what to do.Connect your computer directly to your internet modem. No router. Disable any firewall software (ie. Zone Alarm) on your computer. Does it work now? If you disabled any firewall software (ie. Zone Alarm) on your computer, reactive them. Does it still work now? If you can get this far, plug your internet modem back into your router and your computer into the router. Does it still work now? If not, login to your router (usually at a page like http://192.168.0.1/ or http://192.168.1.1/) and make a backup of your router's configuration. Then reset the router by disconnecting it, finding a pen or a pin, finding the a button or hole which looks to be something that you stick a pen/pin into and push a button to reset the router (and do this), turn on the router while holding the reset button, wait 30 seconds and then release yourself from the reset button, wait a couple more seconds, disconnect the power from the router and wait about 5-10 seconds, reconnect the power. If you have DSL or some sort of connection login you need to configure on the router, you should do so now. Otherwise, does it still work now? Quote
