These ideas have been rattling around my brain for a while, and I figured that I would let you guys know about them.

 

Item revamp

I plan on having items dissapear when you use them. So instead of having 3 repels every time you spawn, you would only have three repels until you use one. You would then have 2 repels every time you spawn (and enter the zone). This was impossible with the bot system, and so I never gave it much thought.

 

Upgrade revamp

Rather than having l3bomb, and l2gun, and all those nasty energy/speed upgrades, I had an idea... Have different named items that have different properties. For example, the Plasma Cannon is a L1 gun with bouncing bullets. This would be the default weapon (the replacement for the l1gun). Another weapon could be the Gatling Gun, a non-bouncing L2 gun with a high rate of fire that uses ammo. Shotguns could be blue non-bouncing multifire, etc, etc, etc. Similar things can be done with bombs.

 

I would also add a weight component to every item. Each ship has a max load. Anything over that, and the ship loses thrust, rotation, and speed.

 

Then, I would remove all the upgrades, and instead have items that embody upgrades. For example, a Enhanced Thruster Array would give thrust and rotation boosts. A Talirac Drive would boost thrust, speed, and recharge. Im sure you all see the potential fun that can be had with an item based setup.

 

Warping

Already been hashed out in another thread.

 

New Items

Sensors: lets you see enemy's energy, instead of just team mates.

Flashbangs: Seeing as it isnt actually for sale at the moment, I think it qualifies as a new item. I would change it so you have to have one present on your ship to launch it. I would also have it only effect your current sector.

Nukes: Boom. Three ultra-powerful thors for an absolutly insane price.

Probably others I have forgotten and havent remembered in the 10 mins it took to type this update.

 

Team names

I want private teams to have names (public teams too). Rather than freq 4529, you would be the "Orion Crusaders", or whatever you choose to call your team. The =#### command would be disabled, and you would need to use a new "?team My Team:team_p!@#$%^&*" command. Teams would have a password that the team owner can change with a command. I would also modify the victory messages to have something like "Team victory (Orion Crusaders). Reward: $3456"

 

CTF

Catch all the flags, drop them all to win. Original? I think not. Capture all the flags, drop them in the FR, and defend them for 3 miniutes? Sound slightly better? I thought so. An added bonus is that the server can announce the countdown. More things can be done with flags, but this was one of the better (and not too complicated) ideas I came up with. If you guys have ideas for flags, be sure to share them here.

 

Powerball

I'm sure something fun can be done with the powerball, I just haven't given it much thought. If anyone has fun ideas (not things that have been done a bajillion times) for it, I am all ears (eyes, whatever).

Hmmm... not my exact choice, but it would make continual buying without lost intrest, so its a good idea.

This is a really good idea, im actually quite keen to see all the combinations you could come up with :D

Now this is what i like, a good weight for every ship... will the cap ship have like, a huge capacity, and will all the items have a different weight?

I like your thinking, but it slightly conflicts with the weight factors...if ou have no upgrades will it affect you as much as normal? and also, couldyou buy extra weight capacity, or weight reduction kits for your ship?

Im liking this already... although you do get to see when an nme has about 50-100 health, as blood-like circle rushes out.

I think your nukes should kill those in the immediate radius, be EXTREMELY expensive and massIVELY heavy. also, they damage everyone in the sector, and it cant be used in center.

Just a few thoughts.

I LOVE the fact that you cant flag-lame in safe nemore because of this. Huge jackpots ruined, by safing, and newbies shooting you, and you gaining tons in the solo arena.

I have an idea for flags. Maybe get a STAY flag in each base, and, whenever we feel it nessecery, we can replace all flags with 1 stationary flag in each base.

lol, i like the way the powerball system works now, but maybe let the moderators ajust the cash reward as they see fit, which means they can host events with it, and let it be also that you can set limits to how igh and low you can have it, so no abuse comes out of it, and like ?ballcount (arg: + - #) it only applies to the current arena, and when the last moderator leaves, reset it to normal.

this sounds very good. There's a huge potential for fun as long as the item sets are balanced and useful. Hopefully there'll still be a lot of things to buy, so a ship can't just be "maxed" too easily.

 

The team names are probably the best part! there's style to flagging now

i like the idea of the CTF game, adds much more skillto the game.

 

also, could you add a powerup when u have the ball, it increces guns and bombs by 1lvl, that will give an incentive to get the ball.

making the powerball increase gun and bomb levels, if anything, will make a ship weaker, since such guns are less energy efficient. Regardless, making the powerball a "kill" tool is bad. It should be actually used for scoring.

I do like all of the ideas that have been created

It's great that you have an opinion on everything but 15 quotes can be condensed a little bit lol

It's great to have a realistic Speed/Power ratio

It allows each individual ship to be unique to a point

And having different weapons with different attributes is also a good idea

Will the ?team command be permanent if say I leave my team freq will remain pw locked?

I really like the Upgrade and Team name ideas! :(

 

As with the powerballs..

 

Powerball to open base doors perhaps? Hmm..maybe not..

 

Powerball for disable nme weapons? hmm...

 

Powerball to increase speed? Just have to tweak the settings a bit( like 10 secs hold )

For the countdown thingy... could we get pic to make some kind of LVZ display that shows the countdown? I know Cyan has a merv plugin that can do that...

Quite possible, yes. I'm not sure how long it will take him to make, so I will just start with green messages announcing it.

Nice to see youre still at it brain

 

The Weapons idea is great, balancing them in that sort of way is very cool. Maybe add that a certain type of weaponry would go well with some ships and less with others. Or is the weapon a ship by itelf??

 

Well those are my 2 cents. Maybe instead of making new ideas we could start by putting up the zone? hehe

 

And by the way, everywhere I go I get people asking me when HS is coming back, good too see that our population wont start at zero when zone comes back on again.

 

Once again, congrats brain you are like...god ..of ..the um... SS zone building ...people. Really REALLY Good job on everything

plus, it would be hard to use a text-to-speech converter on names written in 1337. e.g. 7h3 1337 f3rr37 0wn3r'z f4nc1ub. Also, I don't think a sysop will be present every time someone wants to make a new team name blum.gif

 

now that it's possible with ASSS to change things like rate of fire, and energy consumption without having those properties attached onto ships, does this mean that all weapon properties that were previously attached with ships (i.e. double barrels, bullet/bomb velocities, EMP, maximum mines, bomb bounce count) are now also changable on a player-to-player basis? Also, can the weapon-based properties such as damage, alivetime, explosion radius, and prox radius be changed as well? ;)

Some evil ideas are popping into my head, but I'm not sure if they're possible to do :D

acculally you would just download the new sound each time its updated i think. pklus the sound files will be small as they are no lomger then 3 seconds or so.

 

the team name can always be requested in the forums as well.

yeah' date=' prizing would be the only adjustment on a player-to-player basis I can think of

 

For example, without ASSS, every weasel has the same ROF, EMP, same number of maximum mines, etc. I was just wondering if ASSS allows changing those specific fields per player. So Player A can have a weasel with a huge prox. radius while Player B has a weasel with bombs that zip across the screen in a second (crazy weapon ideas [img']http://www.ssforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/blum.gif[/img] ).

 

I have some crazy ideas for new weapons, but I'm just wondering how customizable things will be to see if they're possible or not.

Only some things are changable on a player-to-player basis.

 

Rate of fire is.

Max mines are.

Fire costs are.

 

EMP and bouncing bombs aren't.

Weapon velocity isnt.

Prox isn't.
