UHNGGHHH. What if you used another ASSS instance (or another Subgame2 instance) that had the same zone name (but does not broadcast to directories)? Edited by L.C.

Well, yes... but I don't think the client would decompress and use them. I really doubt Priitk did some of recursive loop to load the lvz's.

 

 

Edit: But let's get real here... I didn't even know there was a limit on the number of lvz files, except what could fit in the misc:levelfiles line (subgame limit I guess). But why would you need that many lvz files? Each LVZ file can be up to 4MB (or is that limit obsolete with ASSS?), and you have a limit of 255 different images across all your lvz files anyway (that's a client-side limit)...

So if the limit was 250 LVZs, and each LVZ were 4MB and had 255 images, your entire download would be about 1000MB (almost 1GB) with a total of 63750 images.

I probably didn't word this very clearly... but the limit is: The SUM of the number of images of ALL the lvz files used in a specific arena is limited to 255. So no, being able to have more lvz files will not allow you to have more images.

I had an idea to bypass the 250 limit. You know how Trench Wars has the ?go ExtremeGames and it pops you into the EG zone? well, how well would a 2nd server to double the amount of LVZs you have, work? For instance Everspace is based on a star map, and each arena is a sector.. now, from my calculations we are going to have a very LVZ intensive zone and most likely over 30 arenas just focused on the main point of the game. In the future based on my storyline progression work so far, I can forsee over 60 simultaneous arenas. I can guarantee you we will need more than 250 LVZs, so how well would the double server idea work for a zone like EverSpace (considering the 2nd zone would need SSC access as well)? Edited by Xog

I would say taking advantage of "double" if even "triple" zones would be necessary, or should be anyway. Balance it out. That's one of the things ASSS is for, right?
