I'm going to be blogging about the map uploads to keep you guys up to date.

Anytime a map is uploaded I will post in here about what has changed.

There will not be an update this thursday. (I think this is the first one i will be missing since i was hired to do this job.) Reason being, it is my birthday on thursday, and with Christmas comming up I just haven't had to time to make 2 bases for thursday.

I think it would be cool if below mini there was like 3 or 4 temporary doors sorta like in starwars episode 1 at the end when two people going down the hall could each get locked inside a cell or between cells, make like 4 doors each with about 10 spaces between

Is it possible to time them so the start from one side and open/close in order to the opposite side?

Edit: Imagine how epic that would be if you have flags and you want to go through and you're racing the doors but they are closing slightly faster than you can move!

Edit2: But the person chasing you gets warped by the last door!

Edit3: But you put a portal where the cell would be so that once he gets locked in it (if he doesn't get warped) you can warp into it and surprise him with some bursts!!!

Doors have lots of issues, which is why historically we've never used them in bases.

 

  • Doors allow people to warp out of the base with flags even under antiwarp, which is annoying as heck for the attacking team. Crucial War Zone used doors exclusively as warpers, even.
  • Doors can't be accurately controlled by the server at at a rate of more than one change per minute without consuming excessive bandwidth.

I am saying that the doors be used under the minibase and most definitely NOT inside of an actual base.

I had some time so I decided to upload a new map, base 3 and 7 have changed, and I have implemented op2rules' door idea under the minibase.

The reason i am uploading today instead of thursday is because i most likely wont be here thursday, and tomorrow i have work, then im going out for dinner. So enjoy. Map should be up before 8:00 PM.

I had some time so I decided to upload a new map, base 3 and 7 have changed, and I have implemented op2rules' door idea under the minibase.

The reason i am uploading today instead of thursday is because i most likely wont be here thursday, and tomorrow i have work, then im going out for dinner. So enjoy. Map should be up before 8:00 PM.

Corey I have a request. Could you please never use bases that go outside of their sector? I find base 4 and 5 to be the most confusing ever. Flags in b4, so i think I need to id to 5 to start wallbombing but I'm wrong. Several times I get confused, so plz I'm sure lots of ppl find it ridiculous to be organizing the bases like that.

Changed Base 1, and Re-Tiled base 4/5. Thanks P Nut for the idea. Hopefully this will help clear up some confusion issues.

 

Edit: had a little problem with the base 4/5 warps, found out the config file was a bit messed up, should be fine next crash/recycle

Can you just put regular bases in sector 4 and 5 and get rid of the cross-sector bases? They are annoying and confuse newbs.

 

This. Confuses me all the time.

I think a layout like this for center safe would be great, where each ship (of any size) can access the warp pad on top but is randomly spawned into a certain sector of center safe and must exit in a specific direction. That way the area right below center wouldn't be super clustered and crowded! Minibase would also be a bit better because you wouldn't be able to just go straight down from center safe unless you got the 25% roll of landing on square #3 for example.

EDIT: I'd like to add that I enjoy bases 4 and 5. I appreciate Corey's level of creativity.
