And I don't know why, my memory score dropped after I installed the SSD... Pretty sure it was in the 7's. I'm not really into pc modding anymore but I was a bit of a fanatic about a year ago Edit: Running W7 Ultimate 64 bit of course Edit2 : if you are building a new system or upgrading one, NEVER EVER NEVER EVER EVER buy an ATI card. Just a good rule of thumb. nVidia cards will last longer, overclock better, run cooler, are more reliable, cost less, have more convenient features, better driver support, and better tech support on the nVidia forums. Also more driver updates etc. ATI might have the best card on the market for a given time but beyond that you won't get much out of them. Again NEVER BUY AN ATI CARD OR A MACHINE WITH AN ATI CARD you will have headache after headache with driver issues and you will get more BS than you could ever imagine. Good f***ing luck with linux support that's hit or miss too! Edited December 19, 2010 by op2rules Quote

Dr Brain Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Yeah, you're totally wrong op2rules. The cards vary far more from model-to-model than company-to-company. Also, Nvidia has better Linux support than AMD/ATI, historically (I've heard that AMD has gotten better about it lately). Quote

»SD>Big Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 if you can afford it, grab an SSD, doesn't have to be large, 40gb, and use it as your main drive for installing your OS and apps like word processing and such and have whichever drive you have now as your data drive for music, pictures, videos etc. you'll be amazed !!! but do a lot of research if you do, there are a lot of crappy SSDs out there! Quote
Samapico Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 WEI won't give more than 5.9 unless you have a SSD... not even sure if a 10k RPM drive gives more than 5.9... Quote
Dr Brain Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Probably because a 10kRPM drive isn't much better than any other magnetic drive. A solid state drive does make quite a difference in loading programs. I have a 120GB one in both my home and work computers. If I used my laptop more frequently, I'd buy one for it too. Quote
