Guest Jeff Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 I just downloaded and installed contiuum on my laptop and when i go to select aone in which to play all of them appear red and not yellow nor green, therfore i cannot enter a single zone, im still connected to the internet so i cannot figure out why this would be, any help?
🜲 Samapico Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 If you're connecting at a school or some public network, the ports used are most likely blocked. Also, make sure you update the zones list using the current working directory servers http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/88/Half-Life_Black_Mesa_logo.svg/120px-Half-Life_Black_Mesa_logo.svg.pngDCME co-developerSSCU 17th Parallel sysop
Guest Jeff Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I'm sorry im not very good with computers, im logging on at home from a wireless internet connection, i hhave no problems using my desktop just having this issue on my laptop, how would i go about allowing these ports?
L.C. Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) For your standard consumer-grade router, you shouldn't have to forward any ports to be able to play in any SubSpace zone or to download a listing of zones. Unless your router is an industrial/business-grade router (where all ports are blocked by default; Watchguard, Cisco, ...), you shouldn't have to forward anything. EDIT: HOWEVER, do you have a firewall program installed on your computer? Guest Jeff Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Wish i could tell you if i do, i bought this laptop off my g/f and she may have one setup is there any tests or anything i could try or places i could try entering new ports or anything like that
★ Purge Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Does this only happen when you connect from a school or public network? Have you updated your directory servers like Samapico said? If you're not sure if you have a firewall, try disabling your entire virus guard and anything related to that and open Continuum. If it still doesn't work, check in Control Panel to see if Windows Defender's firewall is enabled. Disable it and try again.
L.C. Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) If you would like me to take a look at your laptop/network remotely through TeamViewer, I am definitely available tomorrow and possibly on Saturday. You can find my contact information at http://www.hlrse.net/contact.php. Edited November 12, 2010 by L.C. ★ SD>Big Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 it may be something as simple as turning off your firewall on your laptop.
espo Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 I want to play in the computer lab at school but the zones appear red because more than likely the ports are blocked. Workaround? Yes, I know where you live. I'm that creepy.http://catsnpeppers.ytmnd.com/

espo Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Damn. What's interesting is that I can enter zones like Chaos and a couple of other zones that are dead at school but not any other zones like EG or Hyperspace. Yes, I know where you live. I'm that creepy.http://catsnpeppers.ytmnd.com/
