Fable II for FREE!!!

I don't know if someone made a type at microsoft, but I just downloaded Fable II for the Xbox 360 for free!

edit: Apparently it's only the first episode of the game (out of 5) that is free

That's what people said. But no, they would not have made you have a 7GB download for 1 episode just for people to "see" the game. They would have made it a 2GB dl and then would have dl'd the other episodes separately.

The ENTIRE game was free.

 

Now it's over :/

no. You download the entire game, play the 1st episode, and then pay extra to unlock the rest of it.

Reading articles posted across numerous websites, apparently it was a glitch.

A special surprise earlier, thanks to a glitch on XBL, gave folks Fable II for free, and while the error seems to be fixed, some users are reporting it still says “free” on their end.The glory only lasted a couple of hours, but now it’s back to $19.99 on some ends. It was the full game as well, not episodic or “buy to continue”.If you donwloaded it while the mistake was in place, we are not liable for your thievery. But at the same time, bravo for you.

 

EDIT: and looking at other posts, they are saying that the Episode 1 download (aka Free Trial) is 1.5-2GB

Alright so here's what happened.

Microsoft put up the first episode for free as part of a marketing blitz for Fable III. Except they accidentally linked the full version instead of just the first chapter to the download. So those of us who have the 6.6GB download queued will get the full game.

If you start a fresh download of it as of now it comes up as an error, so anyone with it already downloading is getting the full version. They took the download down completely after all the Xbox Live calls and Tweets, so the deal is off unless you're already downloading it, in which case you will receive the full game for free.

edit: According to everyone here the deal is not off. The link had gone down for awhile and now it's allowing everyone to download again. Forgive me, I'm just going off of various twitter feeds trying to piece this whole thing together.
