What would you as a comunity like to see changed to the map? I'm open to all suggestions, but I am limited as to what i can do code wise. I would love to have some help with with changing the code for the jumpgate, and the corner warp locations. If not, thats fine. Anyways, let me know some map changes you would like to see. Any comments such as "your bases suck" and so on can stay out of this topic, feel free to troll me ingame though.

I like the bases. I like the changes. I like the fact that the bases are longer, and are not necessarily as ez to defend, which makes flag games faster.

 

Center needs something big to change, a new layout.

 

Some of the bases have large sections that almost indefendable, and other spots that are much too defendable.

 

FYI (Swift and Weeps): It doesn't help any to say "your bases suck," without saying anything about why. He obviously put a lot of work into some good bases.

I like the new bases because it gave something new to the zone. For those who say they suck in other words, at least they were changed. I agree there are some areas which are hard to defend and there are areas which are hard to maneuver, but since I lack the skills to help change things in the zone, I like them.

 

I would like the jumpgates to be closer to the center safe, it would help when I am trying to lanc and get to a base but I get trolled on the way there..

Actually I couldn't think of any constructive criticism because I think things are fine with the map atm and had no comments to make. I didn't think anyone would be retarded enough to take my initial comment as a serious suggestion, but then again I didn't anticipate that you'd be reading it.

They were really fun bases, the ones that replaced them seem awful plain.

 

Current b3 is confusing and overdecorated, IMO

 

Center is better than the last, but lots of odd structures -- maybe replace one of the structures with an asteroid field? Nobody bothers wandering into the field at top, and asteroids would make an interesting dogfight environment

1. If you continue changing bases every week, you could probably cycle things through enough that people wont be able to remember what last months bases were like. This might be a good thing.

2. Is there any hope of getting some retro bases back for a short time?

3. Center needs fixing more than bases, something cool in b8 might be fun too.

I would like to echo op2rules comment. In fact, I think center should have a minibase that has a flag room, and can be used for actual flag games. That way you don't even have to leave center to flag!

All these ideas are great! Thanks for the positive input. I have already encouraged op2 to make a new minibase, so take that as a challenge for all. Make a new mini base and the winner will have it submited into one of the next maps.

 

Guidelines:

1: mini must be located at the bottom of center.

2: mini must not touch the bottom of center, leaving a minimum of 8 tiles from bottom of mini to bottom of center.

3: stay away from flag rooms, as I am not sure about that sort of thing yet.

4: only 1 safe zone tile, so use it carefully.

 

Note: you can find the current map used in HS in your continuum\zones. Its c_005.lvl

Oh, and please get rid of the new structure in bottom right center. It's confusing and the new features don't add anything to the map. No to op2's minibase, but I like the idea of murderholes for firing into center.

 

+1 for fr in minibase

 

Like I said, I miss the first set of bases. They were great because they were so open. Being able to maneuver, dodge, and dogfight inside bases felt great. Please consider bringing some back. The newer maps are beginning to look like the set we had last reset.

I would like to echo op2rules comment. In fact, I think center should have a minibase that has a flag room, and can be used for actual flag games. That way you don't even have to leave center to flag!

That can't happen unless you want the small bounty reward in center taken away. Dr Brain wants fast flag games, not a flag game that takes forever because someone has bounty that doesn't want to end it.

If you're bountying in center you have no reason to be on the flagging freq in the first place... and if you're bountying and have flags, you will get killed eventually.

These are all good ideas, and im sorry to shoot them down, but it would be too hard to put a goal in center. I would have to code another goal, and i doubt brain would want that, let alone i dont have the coding knowledge for that.

 

Please keep the ideas comming, i like any input.

This would raise a sort of fight over the powerball because it won't take 3 minutes to make $300 scoring a goal in a base fr. People fighting over the powerball, and even defending it (in the minibase?) would be so great, it would bring new life to the powerball. I'd say a center goal should be a static $150, and you need to have at least 5 people centering or else its $0.

would brain allow you to enlarge the safe in minibase? maybe put it back to 2 tiles wide so something more than a warbird can fit in it?

 

EDIT: didnt read through until after, didnt notice the "one minibase safe tile only" thing.. still, would it be possible? if not, why?

The powerball resets after x amount of time to keep it from getting stuck in the map somewhere or trapped in a base full of defenders. Having said that, the idea of "defending" the ball in the mini doesn't really work because the ball will just reset and thats a good feature that shouldn't be changed. However, if the goal was in the flag room of the minibase (and the minibase was a bit more intricate) it would create a lot more center action. Teams(especially privs :) )would fight for control of the mini base AND the ball.

 

A few concerns though. You would have to reduce the reward for goals though so it doesn't become more profitable to ball in center than it does to flag. You would also have to figure out a way to keep players from abusing in the middle of the night by scoring uncontested goals over and over. Perhaps have a door/gate blocking the goal that won't open unless x amount of people are playing or like op2 said, make the goals $0 unless x amount of people are playing.

it does seem like some sort of modification needs to be done with the powerball. i have not seen anyone powerball with the exception of 2 or 3 instances of someone trying to score a goal solo just for the hell of it.

we should drop the goal reward even more, because it would be even more lulz if someone spent 5 mins trying to score a goal, and got $3

even better we should make the ball reset even more often, so the ball disappears before you get to the goal (because its not like the reset timer should be based off of last touch or anything)
