.?lancstach to auto tach to a lanc

I think it would be useful to have this feature. Yes I'm also aware this belongs in the development zone forum, but I want discussion, not a yes/no answer from somebody who is less than likely to implement this in the first place.

The idea is simple, whenever you start flagging, ?lancs tells you the lancs on your time. If there is only one lanc, you always attach to that one. Rarely do you ever do ?lancs to see whos lancing without the intention of attaching to one. My suggestion is quite simple, ?lancstach attaches you to the first lanc on the list, and keeps attaching to that one until he's not on the list, or not lancing, etc. Also as a common sense rule it would attach you to the BACK lanc, this could simply be calculated by who has been alive longer.

Now of course this will get mixed up a bit with lets say, a fr lanc dropping flags and a team lanc etc, but the idea is to make the ?lancs and /?attach commands into one, ?lancstach boom you're flagging. Simple as that. (Plus, with this you don't need to worry that you're attaching to a lanc that's rushing and you're going to die right away)

thanks for the move, moderator

keep up the good work

also ?attachlanc or ?lancattach would be a more correct name

good idea about the living longer part, but it would need a base check, so you dont attach to the idiot afk lanc in center safe

Semi-related, but much better idea: You should be messaged the ?lancs list when you join ?flag

YES this is genius that would make a LOT of sense!!! This is a very good idea!

I like the idea but I am not sure about it selecting the first lanc on the list. A team may have several lancs, of varying usefulness.

Perhaps if it were a command to PM that would repeatedly attach to that person automatically. Maybe /?attach -a

This would be a whole lot easier and simpler than forming some kind of detection system or a strategy around lancs alphabetically.

If any command sets a lanc as the team's anchor, it will be heavily abused. It should still be in the players' volition whom to attach.

EDIT:

Also, I added ?lancs to my buy macro.

?|buy -c 20 burst|buy -c 20 repel|buy -c 20 thor|lancs|

If this helps anyone.

P Nute actually has a good idea. But I still think you could have a separate command to automatically attach to an anchor lanc, providing the anchor has set himself as an anchor with another command.

also related, There used to be an next to summon lancs but was removed for some reason, this is actually useful particularly at the beginning of reset. Can we get that back or is it yet another crash related item?

Noob> How do I play?

P Nut> You don't play this

P Nut> you live it

instead of whining use one of two options

1. learn necromancy and raise d1st0rt to either fix it or give you the code to fix

2. write a superior module

that is the way of things.

how am i supposed to write anything when the hs code is hidden behind the iron curtain of anti-transparency

time to put my necromancy top hat on

look at this guy use the word transparency as if a zone would be obligated to show its server source code esp. when stubbed code would suffice for this kind of thing

it's okay though

you must have already forgotten about this and this

I think this idea would also be good because noobs would have a less hard time attaching to the correct player, they just type the command and boom they are playing
