FunkmastaD Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Are you saying that you will sift through maybe all of the freq requests personally and without any confusionWhich would also mean you'd lock the freqs and then of course you'd have newbies complain "?help Why can't I change freqs" over and over and over again until you go Insane Quote
Wargh!!! Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 i agree with funk, although i dont want to argue much. A million locked squad freq reqests will pop up, and some for squads which arn't even real. I think possibly, if we had to do this, the staff, and about the 4 top squads in HS should have their own freq. I know its harsh, but i dont want to have to deal with newbs all the time. Personally, locked squad freqs gets a big NAY from me Quote
Bomook Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 (edited) can't we all just get along? we should have the freq settings as they are: the maximum player-changable freq is 999. If anyone wants a non-hoppable private freq, they can ask someone in the staff to set them to freq 1000 or above. This way, private freqs will still be quite common, but the 1337 freqs won't have as many hoppers. I don't really think a special squad freq is necessary. Edit: this just occured to me, although I'm not sure if it's possible to do. Edit the freqowners module so that whenever anyone wants to join a private freq, a message will appear to the freqowner(s) saying, "Player X wants to join this freq. Let him in? yes or no." If any of the freqowner(s) say yes, then that player is let onto the freq. or... modify ?freqkick to "ban" someone off of that freq. Currently, if you just ?freqkick a hopper an unwanted n00b, he will repeatedly come back onto the freq. The ban will dissolve when everyone leaves the freq. Edited January 25, 2004 by Bomook Quote
Dr Brain Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 A different freq ownership model will be created when named teams are introduced. Quote

Wargh!!! Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 i know what u r getting at tgg, but i cant be bofered with endless sheep-hearding to private freqs Quote
Bomook Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 well it's otherwise okay, but there're 2 major problems:1. people who want to go on a private freq (not to flag), such as to rec, or to just screw around or do otherwise would be less likely to make a private freq because they'd have to keep asking the staff. 2. yes, we handled the bots fairly well, but the zone was in chaos whenever the bots were down and none of the staff were online. If this happened with private freqs, the 1337 players who want a private freq would be screwed, stuck on a public freq with people selling flags, giving away base locations, etc.. Quote
Ladd Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 if its ok with bran i suppose i make desist a hs squad Quote
Dav Posted January 26, 2004 Author Report Posted January 26, 2004 how about a team freq range say 1000-2000 and the rest are avalable for norm privs Quote
FunkmastaD Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Personally I wouldn't care the range of numbers for priv freqs but if the end result allows me and my squad to be on a freq that people just can't hop on without being allowed on is good with meI don't care if it's done by appointing a freq captain who can freqkick or a "registered" freq for squad members only etc...
