It's been a long time since I last played Continuum. (5 years maybe)

Now I'm back is there a HD Graphics pack to make Continuum look alot better?

Is it possible to increase the image size of the bmps?

@PoLiX @L.C. published a High Quality GFX/SFX Pack some time ago which had uncompressed versions of the Subspace graphics and sounds collected from multiple previous versions of Subspace.

I can't find the topic where he announced it anymore though (nor can I reveal an alternate location without permission).

EDIT: It can be downloaded from SSGN's downloads page.

But don't expect any kind of next-gen graphics with these... They're just cleaned up and have less artifacts, but that's about it. Changing the size of the graphics isn't really possible, since the whole game uses 'pixels' as unit of distance. You could technically make a zone with everything larger. If you want to see what larger ships would look like, try the zone Hyperspace.

I think that was LC that did that, but I could be wrong.

No, you're correct. :D

I had gone through and compared every WA2/WAV, and also responsible for the PNG/GIF replacements (about 6 of them are GIFs because in those cases GIF > PNG in compression and filesize).

:)

Currently working on..

MP3 - 64, 128, 192, 256, 320

AAC - 64, 128, 192, 256, 320

OGG - q=-2, q=-1, q=0, q=1, q=2, q=3, q=4, q=5, q=6, q=7, q=8, q=9, q=10

I think I was also doing another format, but I forgot. I got all the MP3s done. Doing AAC and OGG should take about 4 hours of manual labor and only a few minutes of automated labor.

LC, why are you trying to save bytes?

Lets do a thought experiment: I think a gigabyte of bandwidth is worth $1 (It's probably less than that). Lets say it takes you 5 minutes of time (probably more) to save 100 kilobytes (probably less) on an image, and 1000 people download it (probably less). That means you've saved $0.1 for 5 mins of work or $1.20/hour. Even minimum wage pays more than this.

So seriously, stop. It doesn't make you look smart to waste your time, and no one cares if the image is 1kb more or less. Quality is a different argument, but file size is not a concern.

Roughly $0.03/GB for bandwidth. More than likely less because someone has to make a profit when they service your colodedi. (EDIT: Yeah, definitely. At least a penny cheaper if not more; gets really fractional.)

EDIT2: I'm not sure how you did the math. :D

OCD + Perfectionism + ADHD = *this*

Has to be as perfect and maximized and minimized as possible. Hahaha! Besides, someone has to do the dirty work that nobody else is willing to do!!! :)

EDIT3: Also, I don't care if "it makes me look smart or not" (actually I don't care what people think as far as this goes; I do what I do). I know what and why I am doing what I do. It's not going to be wasted effort.

noone cares about bandwidth because its irrelevant

however, how big will the images be in memory?

edit:

why would even bring bandwidth up?

thats just silly

Then get into programming for this game. We can use an OCD perfectionist with ADHD to get at least another client up and running.

You'll save the game that you hold dearest to your heart, so I actually think this is something you must do. :)
