Guest durelev Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 I have placed custom bullets.bm2 file to "Continuum\zones\SSCU Trench Wars" folder AND to "Continuum\graphics" folder but Trench Wars stubbornly uses it's own bullets.bm2Yet when I replace gradient.bm2, the game uses it. And since pubtb1.lvz doesn't containt gradient.bm2 but has bullets.bm2, this makes sense. Conclusion: The game uses the .bm2 files that are supplied by the zone, in it's .lvz files, over the users preference. My question is: How do I use custom bullets.bm2 despite this 'feature'? Using Continuum 0.40, naturally.
Dr Brain Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 If the TW bullets are an optional lvz, you can turn off using optional LVZs (and I think you have to delete/rename the LVZ in the TW zone folder, too). If it's not optional, I don't think that there's anything that you can do.
L.C. Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) Additionally, you can create a folder in Continuum\zones\SSCU Trench Wars and put your bullets.bm2 in there. The folder you create must be the name of the arena for which you want to override LVZ with custom graphics/sounds. If you want to override all Public arenas, the folder name must be (Public). If you want to override the LVZ for subarena elim, you create a folder named elim and put your graphics/sounds in there. ie. Continuum\zones\SSCU Trench Wars\(Public)\bullets.bm2ie. Continuum\zones\SSCU Trench Wars\elim\bullets.bm2 Edited September 15, 2010 by L.C.

Dr Brain Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 I think I knew years ago, but then forgot. All the same, continuum is going to use the lvz over any local files.
Guest durelev Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 L.C.'s Continuum\zones\SSCU Trench Wars\(Public)\ worked. Thank you. Even some of the elders don't know these things *shakes head*. One more reason to switch to open source architecture. There seems to be quite a few of them available already. Not to mention the endless modification possibilities and above all, possibility to change things for the better. Automatic updates on top of that to help every player have an up-to-date client. Ahh, the times. Using cross-platform libraries and cleanly organized code
L.C. Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 I very shocked that none of you were aware of that feature. Then again, I'm not shocked because of the "expect the unexpected" principle. Newbs.
Cheese Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 i stumbled across it in my own lvz development escapades, but i thought it only applied to the zone folder (whole zone)however even through experience noone could think of creating a folder inside a zone folder with an arena name i have to ask how you found this out
L.C. Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) The reason I am surprised because (aside from some oldies being here), at least to my recollections, this was common knowledge back 5 years ago. Edited September 17, 2010 by L.C.
»Maverick Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 Didn't know that either. durelev, you should ask TW staff to make those lvz files optional, other players may have the same problem.

Cheese Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 i wonder if anyone on tw staff actually knows -how- to make lvz files optional =P
