op2rules Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Hey I was just wondering how fast everyone here can actually type There are 2 kinds of typing tests btw, there are some that use the 5 character = 1 word method, and others that use random words. Also some tests are loaded with texts that contain quotation marks, capital letters, and all that crap, while others have almost none, so you might wanna take a few tests (or do the ones I did). Either way, this is the first test I did... It was the Astronaut test for 1 minute. Here were my results:http://j.imagehost.org/0198/Capture_1.png You can do this test @ http://www.typingtest.com/ Next I did a different test, this test used common everyday world words and had you type em out as fast as you could, here are my results:First Attempt : 103 with 1 mistakeSecond Attempt : 100 with 0 mistakes Third Attempt : http://a.imagehost.org/0486/1_127.png You can do this test @ http://speedtest.10-fast-fingers.com/ Now I'm also quite away there are like 100 different ways to fake your test results (Cheat engine, macro, firebug, photoshop, etc) but I'd just ask you don't fake your results, slow typing speeds are nothing to be worried about, in fact it might actually be something good, sorta like the whole "I have a life" thing .. It's all in perspective. Anyways, I wasn't sure where my typing speeds stood with the rest of the world, so I figured I'd post up this and see what you all get! Quote
L.C. Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 About the same. Used to type 20wpm faster. Can still do that, but my fingers/wrist aren't feeling well. Quote
flared Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) i remember doing some of these a few months back. the type where random words were just spewed out. the best i did was 124 wpm with 0 errors but i'd say on average i did about 110-115 with 0-2 errors edit: i was browsing through all the random threads i've created on tw forums through the years and stumbled upon this one: http://forums.trenchwars.org/showthread.php?35400-abc-test&highlight=its a timed alphabet typing test, my record was 2.325 seconds Edited September 12, 2010 by flared Quote
Hakaku Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 1 word per minute. 75 errors. I win. Quote
»Xog Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/5562/wpm.png the 4 words that i typed wrong were just things that I was reading wrong or got my timing messed up like: fast computer pencil subject scenefast computerp encil subject scene bang 2 words wrong then I would do something like helicopter president atmost forgivinghelicopter president almost forgiving Quote
Dr Brain Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 I type at 50 to 60 WPM, and it's plenty fast enough. I can't think much faster than that, really. Quote
op2rules Posted September 14, 2010 Author Report Posted September 14, 2010 I type at 50 to 60 WPM, and it's plenty fast enough. I can't think much faster than that, really. Well this comes as a surprise to me. Quote
»Lynx Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 I type at 50 to 60 WPM, and it's plenty fast enough. I can't think much faster than that, really. Aiye, I find typing any faster than 70WPM for longer than a few minutes absolutely exhausting. Quote
L.C. Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 L Y N X does make a good point. I usually type between 70-90 naturally without thinking about it or even trying. I attain higher speeds when, for some reason, I'm more energetic and hyperactive. ;o My natural speeds used to be in the 110-120 range, but that was like when I was 10-13 years old. Quote
»Purge Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 Yeah, I do around 60 WPM, too. But that's because I'm not any sort of typist by profession. Quote
Dr Brain Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 The fastest typist on record types at an average speed of 150 WPM, with a top around 210. So really I don't believe any of you guys are being honest. Quote
L.C. Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 So really I don't believe any of you guys are being honest.I'm pulling my numbers from actual speed competitions and practice. Quote

Disturbance Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Typing speed is synonymous with fapping speed. Quote

op2rules Posted September 29, 2010 Author Report Posted September 29, 2010 BTW if anyone here is a web developer, messing with this game is quite interesting. It's mostly client sided javascript but it it is most interesting indeed! Quote
Cheese Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 i fail to see what typing speed has to do with javascript games Quote
Yupa Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 The fastest typist on record types at an average speed of 150 WPM, with a top around 210. So really I don't believe any of you guys are being honest. Indeed, the fastest typist on record is a joke, as are most other "record" holders. Quote
Bak Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 I learned to type by programming a lot. Is there a programming version? Quote
Cheese Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 start=getticks();text=origtext;while(text){getkb();text--;}println(origtext/(getticks()-start)); Quote
spidernl Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 start=getticks();text=origtext;while(text){getkb();text--;}println(origtext/(getticks()-start)); Knowing your coding 1337-ness, odds are at least half of that code doesn't work. Quote
