I can see the point in this, When cycling I rely on the sound of traffic to know how far away the car is, when it will pass me and how much space it is leaving. I don't care what sound it makes, in fact hearing some new sounds could well brighten my commute up a bit

in that case, I'll have it sound like a regular car engine but go from low volume to high and back again so if I'm sneaking up on you it'll sound like I'm getting farther away.. this is going to be fun

i think frequency is the big issue as well. A slight drop in frequency with the volume drop would cause havoc!
