Although it is understood by many that the field is an excellent tool for dispersing large groups of ships as well as strategic placements resulting in shifts in game momentum, there has been a recent spike in the spamming of such fields to exploit areas of bases that are prone to such attacks. An example of one such area is located at E11 in base 6; the square bend near the base entrance. This is but one of many examples of areas that must be traversed for a significant period of time (enough for lightning field to kill a mid to large-sized ship), without adequate leaking positions when a field is in place (small spaces for small/med ships to slip pass quickly if clear). Spamming fields in such areas is a relatively easy task compared to the amount of effort required in part by another team to push through when a field is in place. Antiwarp is inadequate in remedying this issue as the field dropper can simply perform a ship change then warp to 8 by various means (TW, id, stationary lanc). The cost and effort required on part of the fielder is not detrimental and is justified by the flag game jackpot reward.

Although many factors must be in place in order for field spamming to occur, it is generally the trend for teams to hold positions and hinder opposing team progress with the least amount of effort in terms of the collective team fighting. A couple repels and some bullets is all that is needed to keep enemy rushers from proceeding past the field. The repels often result in stopped motion right in the middle of the field. The issue is not so much having the field in that position, or the field itself, it's the repeated spamming of fields in such areas.

I recommend implementing a time delay between field deployments and/or purchases upon multiple ships owned by a particular user. This would alleviate the issue at hand most effectively, in my opinion, while maintaining the main purpose of the field. I suggest other players to review this discussion and make suggestions as well. This has been a issue for several flag games experienced by myself personally and I am sure many other users have been affected as well.

I am confident that resolving this exploit would result in a more enjoyable flag game experience for all participants (and not solely that of the fielder).

everything that can be proposed for fields has already been proposed for bricks, and nothing was done in that regard, aside from fields being rereleased to distract from brickspamming

fields are horribly under priced for what they actually do. 5 good fields or 5 good bricks could easily mean winning a fg. Given that more than one person can field or brick or both, this amounts to spending like 2k per person and sealing a 10-15 k jp without even allowing the attacking team to do any realy attacking.

Make the price not worth the investment. If people want to field let the do it, but don't make it so cheap that they can still make money.

Isn't that what Cobalt's are for?

I typically go with the philosophy of 'adapt to the current settings before trying to have them changed', but in this case I'd say that phuzzy has the right idea. A limit of one field per freq at one time is totally justifiable. The only caveat I have to add to that is that other than the lightning and coffin maker fields, the status quo is fine.

Also, I've said it before in game, but field generator should be a signature item.

I support this. No more cloaking shark fields.

+1

The field spamming is getting more than annoying and it's been ages since I've had a good flag game.

holy sweet jesus this thread has given me an idea

anti-item fields: simply slap one down and all items (burst thor brick decoy repel) used dont show up to other players

edit:

btw anti-cloak fields is also a cool idea

idea #2:

super cloak field: put one down and all cloakers in it are invisible to xradar

why dont you suggest adding a Deathstar field where it shoots a giant planet-destroying laser beam and is only vulnerable by a very well placed bomb

None of those are even close to new ideas or display creative thinking in any way.

I actually had an even better idea expounding on the death star idea. How about a field that can blow giant holes on the base by deleting walls.

Better yet, how bout we save everyones time and make an field. As soon as someone uses it they win fg regardless of whatever else is happening.

certain items have problems at certain points in the reset.

Soon everyone will buy thors and and kill all the noobs, then again when people can buy parasite they will thor until the shell.

Right not fields are not such a big deal, but when money is no longer an issue, and people spam fields just for the fun of it it gets so boring.

Is it worth while to changes the settings of those items as they become more prominent, and then change them back after? e.i. increase thor price while its in high demand , decrease field life duration later in reset.

Moral of the story: I cannot fathom why it is more important to people to gayspam/hop/rq when they could just play the game by the the way its set up. It's just a game.
