L.C. Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) HOLD UP! Source of problem found (http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?22445-New-6.25mm-audio-cable-lots-of-background-noise!-%28&p=95271#post95271). The cable I bought is a TS instead of a TRS. So I have this mixer -- actually I don't know if it would be considered a mixer -- but it is a Yamaha AW16G, "Professional Audio Workstation" it says. I also have this electric guitar. And I have a handful of 3.5mm to 6.25mm adapters. And I have a couple 3.5mm male-to-male cables. And finally, one 12-gauge 6.25mm brand new male-to-male cable. http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/IMG_1618.JPG http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/IMG_1621.JPG http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/IMG_1622.JPG ***** Before I got the 6.25mm cable (which was today), the 3.5mm worked fine except whenever I play the thickest string, in which popping and crackling would be heard. With the 6.25mm cable, like 35% to 45% of the volume is made up of horrid static noise and stuff. (EDIT: Buzzing sound... and the mixer is indeed plugged into a strip that purifies electricity of noise.) What do I do? Edited August 20, 2010 by L.C. Quote
Dr Brain Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 If it's the cable, then replace the cable. I didn't really follow the rest. Quote
L.C. Posted August 20, 2010 Author Report Posted August 20, 2010 (edited) If I use a 3.5mm cable to connect the guitar to the mixer, everything is almost perfect. It's only when I play the strings too hard (for "increased volume") when there is some minor crackling and popping. If I use my brand new 6.25mm cable, about half of what I hear is buzzing. :[ HOLD UP! Dr Brain Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Ah, never would have thought about that. I didn't realize they sold TS cables nowadays. My guess is that the cable won't solve your popping and crackling issues, since that sounds like an amplifier problem to me. Quote
»Lynx Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Or it could be the pickups, do you know any good Guitar forums - they'd probably be your best bet. Quote
