New Nav Bar

Zones will open a drop down menu with a list of zones. Both SSC and Non-SSC will be listed.

 

Should give a more upfront menu for people to see and click on.

 

May also have Support as a drop down, and Downloads.

 

Thoughts? Opinions?

That looks like it will fit perfectly. Excellently done! The current white strip at the top of ssgn.net is a bit.. bland. Could also add it to the top of the forum section too.

Looks good, but the last version broke the DOM and affected page loading. Does that still happen?

Well, nothing between the latest and the original changed. So dunno what to tell you there.

 

The only thing I did between that one and this one was rename some images, as the layout was completely the same. So sounds more like your browser changed, or some setting changed on your browser to cause it as I can't recall anyone else complaining of this issue. Actually can't even recall yourself complaining of the issue.

I thought about removing the ? but most people thought it looked fine. I had the logo and search box aligned to the sides, but it made everything seem really out of place. Hard to describe, but the menu really just didn't stand out/looked like it was meant to be aligned to one side or the other, but someone didn't do it right. The logo was meant to look kind of cheesy. I wanted something that would actually stand out. I went through quite a few versions, and for some reason that font and color just stood out with the lanc.

 

The only change request I got from people in game was to have the option to turn off certain menu items if it is to replace the general nav bar. Which many thought it should. So may implement that feature. Also since Priit got our hopes up on the scores site, yet again, and then has not done anything since again, would remove that one for now.

I think i posted about it a long while back but i do not remember where, I think i even posted an alternate solution with some code.

I just remembered it because I still have nav.js adblocked, when I did that ssforum.net loaded a lot smoother

 

The issue was/is using document.write to output

s in a script that is loaded in the . Half the elements in the end up in the

the continuum? does look a bit weird to me as well.

 

I think "About Continuum" would be better, but i cant see it looking right so didnt comment on this. I think Continuum? is the best way of doing it, unless 2 leves with a smaller font will work.

Either 'What is Continuum' , 'About Continuum' , or just 'Get Continuum' and a '?' icon somewhere

 

 

Maybe just 'News' instead of 'Game news' ; Didn't check much, but does this shows fine on 1024 resolution? If you need to cut off some space, this would be a good place.

Yeah, it gets about 200k hits a month last I had checked. But that was before zones like TW and Chaos added it.

 

And yes Sama. Before widening it to show the centering of it, it had about 40 pixels to each side to fix in a 1024x768 browser.

 

I had Game News as News, but it was mentioned if it was to replace the current, it might confuse people visiting another website.

 

Maybe have Why Download instead of Continuum? or something.

If it's an About Continuum thing, it should be "About Subspace" or just "About."
