L.C. Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) EDIT: Nevermind. This was the biggest mistake I've made in a long time. Please delete/close this thread. First off, stop. Get your hands off the keyboard and refrain from trigger-happy quickposting. Read ahead. Alright, here are my conditions (no matter what):Common senseRacism is strictly forbidden and will not be toleratedThis includes songs that contain inappropriate related-words in the lyrics (i.e. the usage of “nigger” and other racial phrases and slurs)[*]Avoid saying offensive things live on air My goal for SSRadio would be not how many people listen in on the radio, but the fact that it would be running for the long-term. I believe this is what would make SSRadio successful (not how many people tune in); listener count would not be the focus. The three basic rules or conditions I gave are final; no arguments, no criticism, hands down. If you have a problem with them, fuck off* (preferred) or submit. You'd be fucking god damned naive and close-minded to not realize that your shitty music makes up for only a very small percentage of all music and all genres. In fact, your music probably isn't even a blip on the radar. (Now refer to second to last statement of paragraph before this SPOILER; my foot is down on this, so take it or leave it.) Whatcha think? The only problem I have here is that I would need someone to oversee the radio's operations and make sure the rules aren't violated (as I don't really have the time for this). As far as me being able to DJ, that's quite possible. *whew* At least I can do something "more productive" LOL. 2:L.C.> Last I calculated, I had at least 50+ hours (maybe in the 70s) of broadcastable music.2:L.C.> I like ambient, rave, house/mix, orchestra, classical, blues, jazz, rock, instrumentals2:L.C.> Not so much on the rock side, but there's some I also know where to get 60GB+ of orchestra/classical, and I know places for getting more music. ;o Also, how about this for an "about"?We're just a group of Subspacers trying to enjoy ourselves and offer our selections of music to the pilots out there in lone space. (Okay, I would have posted this in a private forum, but I had no choice! X_x) EDIT: Right now I have my laptop streaming at http://ds1.hlrse.net:5400/listen.pls (FYI this is the to-be TWRadio). If the music suddenly stops it is either because (1) my connection dropped, and you'll probably hear music in a few seconds or something, (2) I stopped the streaming, (3) my satellite lost communication with teh satellite in spaces0rz. »Lynx Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Why not let the DJ choose what's appropriate and what's not, this has been the thing which has consistently beaten this dead horse further. Just provide the hosting, and let the DJs find what zones want to jump on board, and the zones can select their own regulations. It's just kinda stupid for you (no offence) to be picking and choosing rules seeing as you're just a host. All you need to provide is the bandwidth, a UI, some tools and whatever else makes things easier for the DJ.
»Xog Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 http://www.freewarefiles.com/EstaX-RadioBoT_program_12062.html RadioBoT is a robot that allow your radio´s users to vote for songs in order to listen them. Works with all versions of Winamp. This is not a final version, so it may stay some bugs, please send me any bug or idea @ djkeepers@hotmail.com To allow users to vote, the bot offers 3 interfaceshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif: IRC interface: Bot can join a channel and manage votes (no irc client required) MSN Messenger interface: Bot can log in a messenger account and manage votes (no MSN Messenger client required) WEB interface: Bot offers a web interface that displays current playlist with additonal information and also allow users to vote. (no web server required)Bot continuously synchronizes with Winamp. When a vote is passed bot automatically queues requested file and makes Winamp play it after the current one. ^^^ This is great for when DJs aren't DJing. It can take requests and play them and also play random music or a playlist you/last DJ on specifies.
