Corey Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Amen, but yes, the lightning field does need animation. Quote
Cheese Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 (edited) thats a huge animation, whered it come from? Edited July 29, 2010 by Cheese Quote
Corey Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 (edited) If someone could please animate these, I would like to see what it would look like. Thanks Edited July 29, 2010 by Corey Quote
Remark Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 (edited) animations are a bad idea imo Edited July 29, 2010 by Remark Quote
Dr Brain Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 thats a huge animation, whered it come from?I made it with particleIllusion, like most of the animations in the zone. I realized after I posted it that the second half of the animation is identical to the first half, because of the way I did the looping. No one seems particularly interested in the animation, so I won't continue any work on it. Quote
Samapico Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 I had a lightning animation... straight horizontal and vertical. Could be turned into corners I guess. It had few frames... I currently don't have internet at home, so I can't post it though Forgot who the original author of it was, too. I'll try to trace it back Quote
Sharpflame Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 Yeah, fields should stay as corner graphics. Having side-graphics for each field would be pretty nice, though. I'm thinking that this could be made very simple: All fields are just a box of colored dotted lines that are animated. Just like a selection in photoshop, pretty much. That'd be the simplest way. Quote
Sharpflame Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 (edited) I'ma keep going on about the dotted lines fields. After making some concept art... it looks like it'd work very nicely. Definitely more definite and clear than the current "corner" graphics. I'd really like to see full-on box fields instead of corners. See this pic, showing mini fields for examples. This would be so sexy. edit: And they aught to be animated... Would only take four frames to animate a dotted line like this. And the icon slot for each looks sexy : D Edited July 30, 2010 by Sharpflame Quote
Corey Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 I think thats cool sf, but maybe if you had the icon slot dead cebter of the field, ut would be better? Quote
Kilo Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Hellllloooooo it needs to be scalable on demand. Quote
Dr Brain Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Not per pixel, though. Some compromise between scalability and number of lvz objects could surely be reached. Quote
Kilo Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Yes, but someone still has to code it to do something besides corners--so corners are what we have now. If you don't have the code don't think about doing it differently. Quote
Sharpflame Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Well wasn't it already established that the code for side-graphics doesn't exist? It doesn't sound difficult to create, but of course the time to make it needs to be found. Does anyone disagree with the idea of "selection" styled fields? Quote
KrazyKitty Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 it would be great if a freq would know if it was either their field or the nmes .... dont know how that would be implemented. frame rate is more important to me than cool graphics ... Quote
Cheese Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 thats a good idea, there could be a secondary lvz placed in the center to indicate team, like a skull or something for nme... Quote
op2rules Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Here's an animation for you. See Attached. Obviously the frame rate is way too high, and the image size is too large, but it gets the point across. This is by far amazing and makes everything else look like total crap. I love it. Quote
Samapico Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 it would be great if a freq would know if it was either their field or the nmes .... dont know how that would be implemented. frame rate is more important to me than cool graphics ...Maybe add a generic yellow or blue corner graphic, like a simple L corner with a single-width full line, maybe animate it so it toggles on/off every second or so. On top of that (or under, whatever), add the graphical field gfx (lightning, emp, etc) So the yellow/blue indicator would be like a HUD thing, while the other is a visual/graphical thing. One gives you the accurate location of the field and its owner, the other gives you the type of field. Quote
»Ceiu Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 Why do that? Unless you guys added stuff since I ragequit, there are no fields which are beneficial to your own team. That being the case, any friendly field should just be displayed in yellow to your team. And if you go with Emoflame's idea the icon will give you all the info you need regarding the field. Hell, you could go super simplistic about it and just do blue(red?)/yellow(green?) field borders and be done with it. Put the icon in all 4 corners and you can quickly identify what each field is, what the bounds are and what whether or not it's friendly. Also, the amount of code to do sides would be trivial. You know how big your size increment is, you already have the dimensions of the box. The rest is just math and object updates (see: loop). Quote
espo Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 I think keeping the graphics simple is best. The zone crashes enough as it is. j/k. Also, there is no need for different team fields because a good player will call their field. it's not that hard. Quote
Sound Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 i think animation would be awesome. Also, sharp's contribution back with cerium's supportive idea sound perfectthe design is sleek and informative.however, it takes away from the whole intent of making a flashy animated field gfx bottomline i like sharp's input Quote
BDwinsAlt Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 (edited) http://www.cs.unc.edu/~kim/zap.jpgLOL!!! Ok in all reality, something kind of like this would be cool.http://www.your3dsource.com/images/34.gif Maybe post this smaller around when that field is dropped near byhttp://www.chunx.com/e2a/images/Chaos%20Field.jpg Edited August 21, 2010 by BDwinsAlt Quote
