Masaru Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 (edited) Anybody that has been playing for a while or very recently (Today) should of noticed that the fields are not exactly the most appealing graphic to look at. Which is why I call on YOU, the community, to contribute on what should be a worthwhile replacement! There are 5 different fields, with 4 graphics for each fields' corners, totaling 20. Here's what we have now: Here are some guidelines that you should follow in order to be considered:- Must not be a large file size, keep it sensible.- Needs to be within context of the field (Lightning AF should have something related to lightning to distinguish it as that).- Animated is a plus.- Should not be extremely flashy / seizure inducing. ~Masaru EDIT: The fields are as followed:Brick AttackLightning AFEMP Attack FieldChaos FieldCoffin Maker EDIT MK2: You can find the lvz for the fields in Continuum\zones\SSCE Hyperspace\fields.lvz. Please show a preview of your work in a jpg or some other browser viewable format, to make it easier to show off Edited July 24, 2010 by Masaru Quote
Acer Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 (edited) So you just wont graphics for the corners.k Edited July 22, 2010 by Acer Quote
»D1st0rt Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 corners only keeps download size down Quote
Aileron Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Well, wouldn't file size then make animated a minus rather than a plus? Would there be any way to do a perimeter or fill using small files tiled over and over? Quote
Cheese Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 id like to have animated corners, would be shiny and keep filesize down (unlike full box/border)as animations could have any number of frames, i would say 5 frames would be a good mix of style and file size.i believe if they have to be seperate and in a seperate file though (?) NuB KiNG Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 (edited) dont know what the other boxes are for, so i just edited the lightning one with a square lightning look http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/acd1483261.png Edited July 22, 2010 by NuB KiNG Quote
Kilo Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Corners doesn't just keep download size down it lets the field size be modifiable without changing the graphics. Quote
»Ceiu Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 In that case do corners and sides, sides done in a way where the image can be duplicated with more image ids. Quote
op2rules Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I suck with graphics but this is clearly better than whats already there. Quote

op2rules Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 ITT:gfx failures attempt to change gfx without changing anything Oh I'm sorry, judging by your reasoning I should probably be suiciding right now because I'm not identical to you. But no actually, I'm going to try opportunities that I see, even if there is a good chance I make an embarrassing attempt because in the end I learn something and I got better at something I wasn't as good at before, and little pathetic trolls like you that whine about it only make me want to be even MORE successful because I know it will be impossible for them (you) to ever have a lifestyle and skillset like me. So please, continue what you're doing; I love it. Quote
Cheese Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 next time change more than 5 pixels before you complain ty Quote
Sharpflame Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 (edited) I'll make graphics for sides and corners, but I want to know first that sides are going to be used. Which they should. At this point it's kind of a challenge to find the exact perimeter of a field... if not, then more definite corners (not thick curvy lightning) will be a fine enough substitute. And, since I assume that nobody is willing to change up the fields enough to include side graphics, I'm going to go ahead and work on the corners. Edit: Any reason why there's a row of nonblack pixels on the top of the image? Or why everything is seemingly offset 1 px to the right? It would be dumb to work on this if I don't know exactly where each field graphic belongs. For now I'll assume the file is correct... Edited July 26, 2010 by Sharpflame Quote
WhiskeyTango Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 (edited) Here's the gfx files for those who cant take the lvz apart... Also, I would recommend, if you intend to do any type of animated stuff, that you use .png graphics to do them.. This will keep your file size down, which is relatively important... You might want to use 8-16 bit color so that the noobs who run in the lower settings, so they can play, wont have a color alteration from what you originally made it with.. Just food for thought... Sharpflame Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 (edited) Only did new ones for Lightning, Coffin Maker and Chaos. Lightning: Chaos - 4 same-size and 4 larger, since I'm not sure that larger sizes can be used. The larger ones would definitely be great, considering chaos field is pretty big. Small: Large: Coffin maker: Let's hope the attached files don't look too retarded, the attachment thingy was being silly :\ Edit: Although I don't see a future of side-graphics for fields, a moving dotted-line on the perimeter of the field would be great Edited July 26, 2010 by Sharpflame Quote
Masaru Posted July 26, 2010 Author Report Posted July 26, 2010 Alright guys, I'm liking some of the graphics coming through, but personally, I would want to avoid having a blocky L shaped graphic as much as possible. Quote
Kilo Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Derp..? P.S. Why isn't this moved to zone dev board Quote
Sharpflame Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Alright guys, I'm liking some of the graphics coming through, but personally, I would want to avoid having a blocky L shaped graphic as much as possible. Want it to be as hard to see the boundaries of the field as it is currently with lightning? Quote
Cheese Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) WHERE ARE THE ANIMATIONS? seriously Edited July 27, 2010 by Cheese Quote
Dr Brain Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Here's an animation for you. See Attached. Obviously the frame rate is way too high, and the image size is too large, but it gets the point across. Quote
Remark Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 (edited) With how fields are being used now...why not show the boundaries and why animate? It will help noobs catch on quicker and increase zone pop in the long run. I personally feel the K.I.S.S. solution here would work best...K.eep I.t S.imple S.tupid! Keep the graffix super small file size while making them easy to decipher for noobs. The locals all will know what field is layed, I think it's better to think about people that enter the zone that don't even know what a field is. Game play will not change, just add simple boundaries with the graffix change imo. Simple = noobs will learn faster and we can get on with playing HS. Am I wrong? Also, I don't think that grafix are the problem...only for the lightning field because it's corners have been jacked from the begining...can i get an amen? Edited July 28, 2010 by Remark Quote
