I'm working on population statistics but it won't be able to show the population of like a year ago, so there are no real means to compare or see the trend(s).

Perhaps you could release the statistics database for the old statistics and direct someone into the right direction as to what kind of database it should be converted to, and maybe someone might spend the time making scripts or whatever necessary to get them converted... I think it would be worth it (though I can't quite speak this way since I have no programming experience D: ) because it would be a lot of statistics (and that is time you cannot regain).
