aaerox Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 A while ago I started reversing and coding a new infantry server in C# as a challenge. The results were promising, having a functioning v1.55 server within a week. At the moment it supports a decent amount of core functionality, as well as some nice extras such as gametype scriping and . I don't have time to code the whole thing on my own though, so I wondered if any fans of it's predecessor would be interested. I think having an effort similar to subspace with the more flexible engine of infantry would be quite exciting. The code is up on sourceforge at http://sourceforge.net/projects/infserver/If you want to be added as a developer, just send me a message. Quote
Death+ Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 (edited) Sup bro, Great stuff here. LoL long time no see. Got my pm on other site... reminded you of SS? lolNice to see this finally publicly released and not with just me and jovan. Edited June 29, 2010 by Death+ Quote
aaerox Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 It's been released for quite a while. It's just a shame that nobody in the infantry community is that interested in creating a server emulator. Given the treatment that SOE have given infantry, it's quite surprising. Quote
»jabjabjab Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 (edited) I've gone through all of infantry's files etc. and i extremely hate that subspace is the tip of the iceberg in comparison to the amount of customizations u could do. Either way the infantry map and blob file editors i have posted in this forum so search for them if u need to. BTW I noticed the lancaster high-def picture was in a blob file. think it was vehicle.blob Edited June 29, 2010 by jabjabjab Quote
aaerox Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 All the official content tools have been released. There already exists everything you would need to create a zone, including scripting support in the new server. All that's required is to finish the server. Quote
»jabjabjab Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Meh when i looked for it two times, i could not find it anywhere, "Being the blob editor" so Is the one u have more stable? mine had always crashed with some objects i tried to load Quote
aaerox Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 Do you think there would be any interest in this community in creating/hosting an infantry server? Quote
»jabjabjab Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Nope. Im getting another community into subspace atm. dunno if they would like infantry. Quote
PoLiX Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Do you think there would be any interest in this community in creating/hosting an infantry server? Might be some interest. That or modifying the server to work with our client or a multi functional client. Could be very interesting. I know a few people I may pass this onto. Quote
aaerox Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 The key is in the extensive functionality of the infantry client, though. Quote
L.C. Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Isn't Infantry's engine based on isometric rendering, or can this be changed to match exactly how Subspace looks right now? :? Just curious, that's all! =D Quote
»Xog Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 would be interesting to log into an infantry server through the continuum client Quote

Just curious, that's all! =D Yes, infantry has a top-down view mode too. There's a vast amount of settings that can be tweaked.Don't forget there was a Cosmic Rift spinoff which was quite akin to subspace. Edited June 30, 2010 by aaerox Quote
aaerox Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 That's generous of you, but hosting isn't really a problem. The project needs developers to help finish it. Quote
a tool Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 heh. infantry. that was absolutely terrible. so was cr. Quote
