What is it?

I'm guessing something like.. "To determine which team kills other teams better"

 

Regardless, whatever the purpose is determined to be... when other arguments are made, they should be viewed through this lens.

 

So if there is a debate about whether mass driver should be allowed or not, and, assuming that the purpose is what I had guessed in the beginning of the post, then the "lens" would be, "Does mass driver being allowed in league prevent us from determining which team kills other teams better?"

We run league for the sake of our own entertainment. Which team "kills the other teams better" boils down to the results of a match. Despite all the moaning over OP equipment last league, I felt everything ran smoothly. Your team dynamic is more important than anything else when it comes down to winning.

BZAP, could you restate that purpose in a way that is easier to quantify? I think a clear, simple purpose will help us to know how we are supposed to play.

You're thinking too hard. League simply provides an outlet for competition apart from the everyday flag-game. Working in teams also encourages players to share their strategies amongst squadmates. Whether you enter league for fun OR to prove yourself is entirely up to you.
