Samapico Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 Hey fellow Parallelists, if you have some 17th Parallel maps or lvz's in your zones\17th folder, or elsewhere (or even .set or .cfg files), I'd like you to zip/rar 'em up and upload them somewhere for me to download.I used to have a huge folder, but I lost it all... so a couple of you surely have LOTS of stuff.Note that I can access files from the server, but only one by one through the game, which is painful and slow, and no way to have a list of the files either... www.sendspace.com to upload large files If needed, I could maybe make a small program that lists the files I have so far (with a checksum of some sort), and compares it to what you have, and zips what I don't have yet (or different versions of what I have)But this will only be worth it if many people have huge folders... L.C. Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 You could make a bot that runs 24/7, checking subarenas like a password-cracker to a maximum of 16 characters. J/K! I will look through my backups and everything for "17th Parallel" folder and get you what I have. Cannot do it right now for various reasons. Quote
Yupa Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 ...What's the problem with having the host send you a tarball? (not that there probably aren't some interesting files that aren't even on the server anymore, but still) Quote
»Maverick Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) ...What's the problem with having the host send you a tarball? The problem is that the host simply won't do that (it's Priit K.) Samapico, you should ask MikeTheNose to ask Priitk (or GS to ask him) for a list of files. It would save you a whole lot of trouble. Edited June 23, 2010 by Maverick Quote
»Purge Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I have a wealth of 17th stuff on my other computer in NY, but that's half a world away, so you won't be able to receive them. Quote
kid Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I have a wealth of 17th stuff on my other computer in NY, but that's half a world away, so you won't be able to receive them. Ask your parents to run a ssh server on it. Quote

You can add and delete files as you please but you don't have any proper access? P'shaw. Quote
Delic Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 I have a pretty large catalog of 17th files from '03 onwards (472 objects in my stored folder alone). I wish I had the Aces squad hall though ): Quote
Samapico Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 (bump) I was able to grab about 260 maps and 210 settings files from the server using some bot magic, from a list of .lvl files that was generated several years ago by an unknown source... Anyway, I now just have to convert the 210 .set files to .cfg... I'll probably make my own set->cfg converter since the ones I found don't seem to handle command lines for mass conversion. I'll probably also make some kind of mass subgame->asss converter that creates all the arena folders and places stuff at the right places. On a side note, thanks to those who offered us hosting for our future ASSS server, namely L.C. and Lynx. If all goes well, we should have a server set up pretty soon to start transfering stuff and getting ready for some new stuff. If you want to contribute in any way, don't hesitate to contact me... whether it be just to share ideas, to help as a staff member, or to help us test stuff (we might need some beta play testers eventually ). More to come... Quote
L.C. Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Hmm, your bot couldn't use *getfile on the CFG files? Quote
Samapico Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 Mervbot doesn't support *getfile, for some reason... see here Quote
»Purge Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Really? I swear I've used it before... I think the files go into the /get folder. Quote
Samapico Posted November 30, 2010 Author Report Posted November 30, 2010 I thought I used it too... but the terminal gave me some 'unknown packet' crap. Apparently there's a difference between *getfile and other means of getting files (?getsettings, downloading a level, etc.) But... I dunno, I just realized a plugin I use relies on *getfile... dunno what I was doing wrong. Quote
»Purge Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Well, I found the plugin I used to download log/txt files from the server and organize them chronologically. Try to see if the core gives the same error. I didn't get that when I tried it... http://purge.hlrse.net/logger.rar I don't have the source on this computer, but all it does is *getfile at the specified period then use some DOS commands to rename the downloaded file. Cheese Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 i would highly recommend you choose LC as your host Quote
