I just noticed today that subspacedownloads.com is down. How long has it been like this? Is this only temporary? It would be a shame if it's down permanently because it's a great resource.

 

Feel free to remove this thread if/when it goes back up.

It's been down for a few weeks now, I think. Testtube hasn't had any motivation to get either it or the Metal Gear CTF forums back up.

I don't know how you can do that unless (1) your ISPs DNS cache is horrible, (2) you are using the static IP address of the server SSDL is stored on.. because OpenDNS tells me the nameservers of subspacedownloads.com are failing. =P (In other words, the nameservers either don't exist or are down, and it's a requirement to be able to use a domain TLD.)

 

IntoDNS confirms it as well: http://www.intodns.com/subspacedownloads.com

 

Or I don't know what I'm talking about.

(2) you are using the static IP address of the server SSDL is stored on..

So... anybody has the IP address of SSDownloads's server?

If we have that then (theoretically) all you need to is add that IP to the Windows's hosts file with 'subspacedownloads.com' and it should work again. However, given that the nameservers are gone, the server serving the website is probably gone too.

Even if it is coming back up, I still support the fact that the people who did DL the files did do it, just for reasons like this

Torrent time. Testtube even when you get it all back up, it would save you cashola to move to torrents. It's not really all that much data and legally not a big deal to host or seed, so.

So I was wondering if there is a download site anywhere? I want to download the old subspace 1.35 because it allows me to test maps in offline mode. I don't know if there's a better or quicker way to do what I want to do, but surely there is a subspace 1.35 download somewhere? All these CNET and other downloads are actually continuum.

So I need to download the whole of SSDL (2.5 gb) just to get one file? Any idea which of those 5 massive downloads has the one file I want in it?
