First it was holding seven instead of twenty , then it was the shipdelay, and ammo depots, and antiwarp affecting shipchanges. Let's be honest. The intended nerfs on thors have not made it much more difficult to take advantage of arguably the most effective strategy in the game. They go through walls, have huge prox, and are easy to stack on top of each other. Instead, the nerfs have made it: A. Really difficult to neut. B. Annoying to change ships C. Make it impossible to spec in base. So. In this thread I suggest we talk realistically about how to deal with thors. Here are my suggestions: A. Make thors much more expensive. B. Make it only possible to carry three thors at a time. C. Drastically reduce the prox of thors. D. Reduce the damage of thors. E. Place anti thor tiles around all bases so you can only thor from within the base. Inb4 complaining from people who thor

I think that's exactly what he meant... place anti-thor tiles all around the outside walls of the bases, making it impossible to just transwarp to a base, thor, and repeat. Thors would have to be launched from inside the base. Also, most flag rooms have 'holes' in their anti-thor tiles, the most obvious being b7, where people just thor from below the flag room straight up. This is confusing for some people (I heard a lot of 'this flag room is not thor-proof' because of this hole) and kind of defeats the purpose of having these tiles in the first place, imo.

The timing can be really hard to get right, and sometimes depends on other factors like lag. I repelled some fast thors while standing still just fine, but sometimes even slow thors won't gtfo. Also much harder to repel with a larger ship (maybe impossible), since the prox is triggered with the side of your ship.
vetta64 Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 if there was a way to subtract money from peoples accounts for tking this would help prevent lobbing trip thor right into the heat of a flag game. You gain $65 for killing so and so but lose $75 fot tking that other guy etc.

I think it would be great because then thor whoring could only occur during certain spots in the base depending on it's shape, it wouldn't be practical to continously thor at a certain time. You wouldn't be able to just tw in and out of a sector and thor a base, solving that problem, and again, it would be harder to make them fly as fast when you only have the limitations of the base to shoot them. (again being, depending on where in the base the heat of the game is at). Also about the tk'ing idea, I think it might be cool where if you are tk'd you get a yes/no pm asking if you want to steal $100 from the person who tk'd you. Sometimes you want to be tk'd, sometimes you don't. If it pissed off the person rather than aimless whining you get a decent solution. Bingo.

What I am annoyed about is that I can't nuet the friggin flags when the enemy has anti warp. The only thing that brings thors into it is that this is an anti-thor feature, which by the way doesn't work, so get rid of it. Edited July 3, 2010 by Aileron
