Corey Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 (edited) hey guys, im going to be making bases, and archiving them in here. You can feel free to upload your own or whatever. Staff, take em if you need em. EDIT:: going to try to upload a base once every 2 days EDIT:: BASES ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER, when it says base 5, base 6, ect.. Its not actually meant for that sector, these bases were made in sectors, then extracted out. First base http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/1178/map1ko.pngmap1.lvl Edited July 26, 2010 by Corey Quote

Sharpflame Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Corey, Try to not use awkward shapes, such as spirals and circles, in your bases. I don't think they contribute to the function of the base much at all, instead, you might try using more consistent structure throughout a base. For example, base 6 looks fun toward the top area, but looks unfun where the asteroid rings are, because they're circles in a large box space, which ends up being weird inside and out of the circle. Weird angles and shapes like that seem indefinite and weird to flag with, however I'm not saying a curve here and there is always bad. Hopefully this feedback will help you a bit with mapping. Quote
Corey Posted May 7, 2010 Author Report Posted May 7, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the advice, i will take this well into consideration apon making my next bases. I never mind any constructive critacism, after all, I haven't made a good base in a while, I need to get back into my feel of making bases. On another note, its good to see you again, long time no see. Still active in HyperSpace? Edited May 7, 2010 by Corey Quote
Corey Posted May 7, 2010 Author Report Posted May 7, 2010 Damn, 23 downloads on my first base? You guys like? Please post feedback on it. Quote
BZAP Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Nice designs. These bases look alot better than the ones we have now. Quote
Corey Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 base 7 http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/8557/map7j.pngmap7.lvl Quote
Sharpflame Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 (edited) I was active in hyperspace (as Psythe) in order to get the newest bases up, but haven't been around much since. :\ Oh yeah, base 7 looks a lot nicer than the rest, I think. Edited May 8, 2010 by Sharpflame Quote
Corey Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 (edited) base 8 http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/4616/map8.png Thanks, I think that one is one of the best. If you don't mind, I would like to learn more about the HS regions, so I can just region my own bases, to save time for the staff. I mean i know the basics of regioning, but im not sure what some of the regions in HS are for. If you need to contact me, email me, or send ssforum pm, Email - corey_995@hotmail.comThanks.map8.lvl Edited May 8, 2010 by Corey Quote
Samapico Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Well, if you use DCME, there's a region tool. When you select it, you get a listbox to choose from the existing regions, and you can add (left mouse button) or remove (right mouse button) areas from the selected region. HS has a lot of regions, so you may want to set all of them to invisible, except the one you work with. The region tool toolbar also gives you the possibility to add an area to a region with a magic-wand-ish tool. Quote
Corey Posted May 9, 2010 Author Report Posted May 9, 2010 Thanks Sama, but I meant more of what the regions do, like what the do in game. Quote
CDB-Man Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 Dont forget about the Nova Bomb wallbomb factor! (aka L4 big splash bomb) Base 6 with the asteroid rings seems very easily Nova Bomb splash abused to death, ie defending team Nova wallbombs all day while attackers cant even get in. Quote
Corey Posted May 10, 2010 Author Report Posted May 10, 2010 Thats true, but im not as worried about that, as i am the stucture, and bomblines. Quote
Corey Posted May 10, 2010 Author Report Posted May 10, 2010 base 9 (6 redone) http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/2716/map9.pngmap9.lvl Quote
Samapico Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 HS uses regions to define where jump gates are triggered, where you can end up with FTL's, where you can use FTL's, where ammo depots are, where the safety warp thingy sends you, where the TW areas are, where flag rooms are, ... all that crap. You can probably guess the function of most regions by checking their names, properties and where they are placed in the current map. Also check the map attributes (eLVL attributes), in HS they use these to define which regions are compatible with each FTL. Quote
CDB-Man Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 In case you forgot, the original base 5 last reset was banned and replaced because of a part where you cant get past due to a ridiculously thin walled curve path that was easy to wallbomb, like that asteroid thing you had before http://www.ssforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/blum.gif. Corey Posted May 11, 2010 Author Report Posted May 11, 2010 Lol CDB thanks for the positive critasism. Quote
