NBVegita Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/europe/04/14/medvedev.iran.russia/index.html?hpt=T2 Hmm...anyone else think either hell is freezing over, or there might be something more sinister than nuclear energy going on in Iran, most notably when Russia, who has been against sanctions from the beginning, is now saying they may be necessary? Your opinions? Quote
SeVeR Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 I don't follow the issue like I used to but I do know Russia is becoming much closer to America, and I would therefore expect them to cease previous alliances if it makes their new friend happy. If McCain had won the election then Russia would still be opposing sanctions. Quote
espo Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 I think Russia just want's to make the International Community happy by making a statement about possible sanctions. They also gain some leverage points when they want to discuss their concerns about our missile defense plans. It's not like we pressured them into siding with us on the Iran issue like we did with Turkey. Read some wikileaks cables about it. Smells like another war to me though. I believe that Israel is likely to feel forced to launch a strike if international pressure doesn't halt Iran's quest for nuclear power (and it wont) and then all hell will break loose. Quote
