vetta64 Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 My wife wants to get a macbook pro which I thought was a great idea until I though "hey what if continuum dooesn't work." This is really the deciding factor for me. Will I be able to use continuum or will I have unnecessary difficulty in using it on a macbook.
»doc flabby Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 (edited) The easiest way to keep playing continuum on a Mac is to buy parallels ($80, but you're be able to run any other windows application you might need as well, so its not a bad investment) or install BootCamp on your mac. You're have to buy windows 7 as well which starts at around $100 iirc http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/ Edited April 12, 2010 by doc flabby
Hakaku Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 Lynx also managed to achieve it by running continuum through wine: http://krslynx.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=51&Itemid=59
Kai Ossa Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 For best performance, use Bootcamp. It's default utility app that's already part of OS X. It basically partitions your HDD and allows you to do a clean install of Windows.

Parallels will work, and you can indeed play simple directx games fullscreen, but I experienced a strange frame lag while playing, and it absolutely drove me crazy. Whats nice about parallels though is that it can run a session from a bootcamp partition. So you can try both if you wish. BTW XP, Vista, and Win7 all run great on Apple hardware via bootcamp. So you will get a nice experience. Also you may want to consider a separate USB keyboard if you plan to play on her macbook, the arrow keys on macbooks tend to be too close together and seem a bit flimsy for the type of mashing subspace playing throws at them.
