Subspace2 engine is taking a back seat for a while whilst I work on this.

I have sucessfully running Subspace encryption on a j2me phone.

I can ping zones and display LVLs and download directory listing

OVER the mobile phone network (T-Mobile UK)

The next step is to finish implementing Subspace protocol,

Fortunatly alot of the heavy work has been done already by myself and in twcore.org,

althougb quite a few changes and optimisations are needed due to the restricted enviroment :)

Ill be posting up a downloadable DEMO for your mobile phone in a week or so which will have full chat support

(ie a chat client).

Unfortunatly i'm only using VIE encryption for now, so there wont be many zones you can connect to :)

can't wait! thanks flabby. is there any way for this to work for the iphone though? since it's going to be java based? :)

If you jail break you can :)

Otherwise no, unless anyone is willing to buy me an iphone + imac + pay the developer fees so i can develop for the iphone, its not going to happen.

Wow I just realized something. The chat client I made in Java (JVM for Windows Mobile was used) is also named subspace mobile but shortened to ssmobile. Oh well, I never released it to anyone so go ahead. It would be nice to have a native java client, but I ran into restrictions on my phone when trying to develop with the micro edition. HTC phones won't be able to use this client and any other brand that is nazi about applications and networking will do the same. There is an easy hack with bitpim for LG phones, but I'm pretty sure HTC is hopeless. Good luck.

Good luck, you've always got the Hackintosh option for iPhone/iPod Touch development, if you manage to get something out of it I'll be happy to pay the developer fee (I'm buying a dev account in a few months anyway when I buy another Mac so I can work on a chat client myself in Obj-C).

Small update.

SubspaceMobile now downloads directory server listings.

I can upload a copy of the JAD if anyone wants to try it out.

Next stage is to implement a spec client.

Here are the three graphics that I could not optimize due because of Continuum requiring them to be in BMP format. You can grab the rest of the PNGs and WAVs from here: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=24112&view=findpost&p=258516

On one note, what format should I convert the WAVs to?

J2ME Requires all graphics to be in PNG format, so png is good B)

WAV is probably best for sound.

Ok! I will convert what images that are GIFs to PNGs (when I made the kit, I chose the format that offered the lowest filesize) soon.

Ok.

I want to see if it will run on my HTC Tilt2 because it has several Java restrictions. Send it my way and I will beta for the HTC party.

It probably won't unless I pay HTC money.

You htc runs Windows?

Have you tried downloading a midlet manager?

This demo should connect to internet and give you a zone count.

The player count is incorrect :)

"Application cannot access the restricted API" when I try just running the JAD.

Downloading the midlet manager and seeings what all that does.

HTC Tilt 2 (AT&T)

Windows Mobile 6.5

More Java restrictions than features I'm afraid.

Looks like its your network AT&T who have locked the device down. I'll see if i can join their developer program, but no doubt...they'll want money.

This is why i hate closed platforms...and why the iPhone is so popular for developers in the USA...J2ME is ridiculous how all the carriers lock it down.

Just tried installing your demo on my Blackberry Curve 8530 running OS v5.0.0.508

Got this error:

908 Incompatible Configuration or Profile

Application has malformed attribute: MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.1
