Aileron Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 Alright, I'm doing something that will cause some of you heads to explode again. Another strategy guide. I'll be honest, by this point of time, watching some of your meltdowns is actually an amusing end in and of itself. This thread concerns the tactic of 4 or 5 lancasters, each with AD, who rush and attach each other, forcing the other team to kill 25 lancs in order to stop a rush. There are many ways to defeat this. Many know them, but I've seen too many cases of people not doing the right thing to stop it. The BullfighterIs tactic only works on offense when the defense are the ones lanc rushing. Simply get out of the way and let them get behind you, then use repels and mines to keep them there. Lancs have little killing potential, so a lanc rush defense is vulnerable to leaks. When a defense has a lot of rush lancs, this vulnerability can be extreme enough that an entire offense, banclanc and all, can leak past them. That's great for offense. However, the rushlanc defense isn't popular and not much a threat. I'll focus on actually stopping rushlanc offenses from this point on. Load for BearKilling a lanc quickly requires heavy weapons. The best against this kind of rush are L4 and L3 frag bombs, which do a large amount of damage to all the lancs at the same time. Next best are bursts, since the lanc's large profile tends to catch most of the burst. They might have radiating coils, but even then it is still a good idea to save your bursts for the nme lancs. After that, L3 bullets, L2s can work if used densely. What doesn't work are low dps guns like pea shooter and beam array, and L1 bombs, particularly EMPs. Getting more DPS out of bulletsThere are several ways to increase the DPS on impact with bullets. In this situation, the way to do it is to bounce bullets off the wall in a zig-zag fashion. This decreased the range, but doubles the DPS against opponents trying to fly through the cloud. Against rushers, don't target the rusher. Create a kill zone and fill that kill zone with bullets. That way, even if they repel, they are still in a kill zone filled with bullets. Repel BackNo need to elaborate. Mine the BackfieldLow Density minefields are a leaker's worst nightmare. If the pilot doesn't want to die and respawn, which isn't an option for leakers, he must either use repels, which a leaker used to execute the leak, or slow down, which allows anyone chasing him to catch up. The lanc rush is similar enough to the leak in form that minefields still have a good effect. Quote

Dr. Snyder Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Although I largely disagree with the concept of this post, Probably the best way to stop rush lancs is a combo wzl, with gunners backing it up. 4 reps to protect the gunners and bursts to damage anything trying to rush past after the reps. It is pretty simple, but strategy changes based on the players you are playing with. Because there are no private freqs, and because the nature of HS being somewhat balanced, your best bet as a player in all circumstances is to evaluate where your freq is the weakest, and assume that role. Either that or hop to the strong team. Considering Aileron that you use a photon weasel in base I do not believe that anything you say about tactics on this forum is going to be ground breaking, or even overly insightful. Not trying to troll you or imply that I am some kind of hyperspace mastermind, but the only people that could possibly gain from your advice probably don't care or visit these forums. Quote
adi Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) Okay, now I don't want to blow your mind or anything but I have traversed the barren peaks of Central Asia and I bring back to you this ungodly tactic. I present to you:((i'm already sick of this. how can you stand yourself?))Repel so the offending lancaster's ad goes backward and it loses ground on respawning. The phrase "so their ad goes backward" means that you fire a repel especially when the lancaster is dying. Also, I agree with Dr. Snyder. Your photon wzl speaks through the heavens to my crystal ball and I realize that I may disregard the bulk of your drivel with no consequence! Aileron Posted March 29, 2010 Author Report Posted March 29, 2010 Look, when you are on a team of all jav newbies that does everything wrong, there are two ways to relieve stress: Complain about it in the forums, or kick your cat. Incidentally I don't have a cat anymore, so I have to complain on the forums. Its not a 'photon weasel', its a 'trap weasel'. The trap laser is more expensive and uses my sig slot, so I consider that to be my primary weapon. Quote
Dr Brain Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 or kick your cat. Incidentally I don't have a cat anymore Too many teams of jav newbies? Quote
vetta64 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 There is a tumor in this discussion which is called shell. Everyone wants to get rid of their parasite so they are willing to tk and generally not participate in actual fg as long as they get para kills. This is why you have too many jav newbie teams, and why they all thor thier own teams to death. Rest assured this is a season and will be over before the next reset, although there will also be no pop left by then. Quote
Deathmonger Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 I find the most effective weapon against lancs is the cluster bomb fully shrapped up. There ought to be an anti lanc rush weapon counter. Like a special low velocity supershredder L4 gun that drains your energy but packs a wallop if it hits. Maybe it's only available on the shark to give it a basing purpose to counter lanc rushes and assassinate defensive lancs. Quote
Aileron Posted April 3, 2010 Author Report Posted April 3, 2010 (edited) or kick your cat. Incidentally I don't have a cat anymore Too many teams of jav newbies? Actually, I've been rather busy lately and haven't been able to follow Days of Our Lives that much. That's whats causing the stress. Edited April 3, 2010 by Aileron Quote
