Having huge lag from 66.36.224.209 nyc1.ge11-2.core2.dca2.hopone.net. Affecting most of the zone.

http://frankllr.comuv.com/image/zonered.png

This is every weekend, from somewhere in the morning to around middle of the afternoon on East Time.

I don't mind much atm since I play mostly DSB.

After some cycle on TW, 66.36.224.209 gets removed, but this never happen in game.

ATM, we are at least two from Canada, province of Quebec, affected by that. We live around 100km apart, two different ISP.

Any suggestion?

Do you get 600ms ping if you enter the zone as well? Also, people will tell you to get at least 50 cycles on that trace to get valid results. And I have no problem here from Montréal with my ISP being CoopTel (I didn't choose it... University residences)

Yes, I get the same ping when in game. As told earlier, trace change over time, the faulty hop get dropped. But, as specified, it do not happen when in game. Lag just stick. Next weekend, I will do a 50 cycle. I will be like the 16 cycle.

hopone.net has been a notorious packet dropper.

many ppl have had huge lag, to the point where tw sent lawyers after hopone or something, and theyre still too dumb and lazy to get off their fat asses and fix their broken shit.

old news is old.

If you look down a few posts, you'd notice I too made a topic about this...

for a reason still unknown to me, as I tried MANY things to get rid of it, one eventually worked, sadly, i dont know which, but I have got rid of my hopone lag by bypassing the hop and taking 2 extra hops.

Aww, should posted on your 20 January 2010 post. Well, not only affecting my area, and been around longer than I thought. On sort term, I am only planning to start playing PowerBall, and don't have lag when games takes place, so all good for now.

If no suggestion, will just sit and wait that they happen to fix their things.

Thanks

Not to beat a dead horse...but 'eh' why not resurrect a thread:

Pretty interesting that I have seen the same type of ploss and nearly the same pings(650ms) in my traces.

The culprit has been: 154.54.24.146 vl2.msfc1.distb2.dca2.hopone.net

The interesting thing is that the ploss and high pings fix themselves everyday at 1pm EST or so. I have no idea when its starts to get bad, but its likely while I'm still sleeping. :)

So I'm not sure if hopone.net or superb are doing something in the morning hours and finishing around 1pm every afternoon. The very specific pings make me think it is some sort of traffic shaping. Maybe they are giving priority to other packets in a certain time frame.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this trend, but I have to wonder just how many others and/or new players are seeing this lag and not playing because of it.

If the number is substantial, you'd have to wonder what superb.net is offering that another hosting company isn't....and why not switch?

What is odd is I have never had issues with them, even out of that datacenter. Priit might move hosts, but would be some pursuading... Will see if anything can be done I guess, now that he is "actively" communicating again.

Just a note...the first 80-100 cycles were 85-95% ploss....i stopped looking after a bit and let it run...and it was steadily going down when I got back to it...

Each cycle the ploss was decreasing by .1% after it reached 30% or so ploss.

Again this latency fixes itself sometime after 1pm EST(for me at least). Which makes me believe that it is some sort of traffic shaping.

For comparison(same time frame 9:30am EST), a trace to a non superb.net host:

Yesterday, Saturday 24th, it was at 600++ ms. But today, it is 11:16 am, and all good.

Your theory of priority / traffic management is quite possible and they might finally unlocked sundays.

Fishy.

I noticed that trace route shows that all but last 2 hops are hopone (the others inbetween changed to level3). I still have continuous 90%ploss from those last 2 hops, anyone else?

I ran screen capture last weekend.

On Saturday, lag went away at 13:30 and Sunday at 13:15.

Will do the same for upcoming weekend. That way I can tell when I can or cannot play matches for those zones.
