attackmonkeys Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 is there a way to could make the player be able to load a map and shipset and practice offline...just an idea
Yupa Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 been suggested a lot would be nice if Priit added this
attackmonkeys Posted January 8, 2004 Author Report Posted January 8, 2004 w00t!.... i think lots of players would like an offline practice thingy.. who do we talk to if we want this in the next release...priit or ekted or someone?
Himura Kenshin Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 priitk if u can ever get a hold of hm hes a real busy guy. it should go on the wishlist but them we'd have to wait like 3 years
»nintendo64 Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 Practice Offline WITH Lvz Support. Definetly. -nintendo64
»CypherJF Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 AMEN lol i miss this feature from the SS client :/ but would be nice for LVZ etc -- and as mentioned before, if you could actually get ahold of him, etc etc...
Yupa Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 ya...this has been a suggestion in the dev forum since the dawn of time, so...you really don't need to post a reply to this thread
madhaha Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Stop asking Priit. What we really need is a premade offline test kit, especially since we now have two distinct kind of servers. It shouldn't be too hard to have a zipped copy of the latest client, server and all the settings set up for offline testing and a launching program to get everything running. Also if someone does a precompiled version of ASSS for windows and *nix as well then development would come a lot faster. Surely this is much better than 3 years of whining and just as convenient?
mister manners Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 i don't think i should even respond on this topic
Dr Brain Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 i don't think i should even respond on this topicI don't think you should respond on any topic, but...
shardz Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Well, there is a way to do it, just not with lvz. Ithink you can (maybe) change the settings though. Just get the old SS client with the "Practice Offline" feature and change the local.lvl to whatever map you want to use, ie. delete the one that already excists and make your map be local.lvl (I think thats the name of it). I used to do that to check out a map real quick.
fresca Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Agred w/ madhaha. If you need to test .lvz and all that, there are ways to do so.. Just load up Subgame and upload your .lvz file and if you want privacy disable others from entering. I'd like to see much more stuff done before this. However, I can understand how doing this OFFLINE might be something a lot of people would like, but I don't know.. Today everyone doesn't have problems with phone line and internet line, do they?
madhaha Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 You misunderstand. It is possible to set up subgame (and probably ASSS) for a local or lan server. Why not have one preconfigured with a launcher utility?
Tardy Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Uh, you can practice where its like your offline, but your actually not. Its a command, and you own the zone. It bans everyone (all players) besides staff. Not sure of what this command is though. Trained might know, thats who I used it with when SSL OutZone was under construction. Let him reply later, at his house atm.
Yupa Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 ... the thread is called "practice offline", not "practice LIKE YOU'RE offline"
»CypherJF Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 and i dont think it is banning people who enter.... it's the permission thing; if you do not have permission (permit.txt) then you're not allowed to enter... heh
Guest V'rix Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 How could you practice offline if theres no one to shoot? A suggestion is to make bots for practice.
Unlimited Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 Ya I really don't care for a practice offline feature.. But if it had bots.. Wow that would be awesome. Like ur shooting bots.. They shoot you, u shoot em back.. they kill you and you'll be like "-*BAD WORD*- u punk bot". Yeah that would be sweet.
Bargeld Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 most ppl want this feature for testing/development purposes, to check maps and graphics etc.
Yupa Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 mmm, bots are a separate matter anyways go look at Underlord's AI bot thread
attackmonkeys Posted February 2, 2004 Author Report Posted February 2, 2004 Well, there is a way to do it, just not with lvz. Ithink you can (maybe) change the settings though.
