whalz Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 pretty unimpressed... the pictures look good in your post tho! Quote
BDwinsAlt Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 I think it may have increased bots and maybe a few clicks from people who just don't know what they are doing, just clicking stuff. I doubt we have any new people playing continuum from this. Has anyone heard of anyone asking how to do stuff? OvaDose's Girl plays now that her boyfriend showed her the game. That's what really gets people to play. Just find some friends and play the game together. Quote

Google Analytics will only work when JavaScript is enabled, otherwise the user is not counted. I would think that bots normally have JavaScript disabled since JavaScript really has little to nothing to do with their purpose (plus it would be an additional resource to their hosts). Don't know, just a thought. Quote
BDwinsAlt Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 I wasn't sure how google determined traffic, but javascript sounds kind of stupid to me. A lot of people disable scripts like that. Quote
PoLiX Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 yeah, this is something me and lc discussed. I was trying to figure out why our analytics stats were half of our AWStats stats. And AWStats was closer to ssforum internal stats. I mean, through some thought I did figure out a few of the reasons though. 1. IPB uses a lot of Ajax, so clicking around editing, changing views, doing topic operations, etc. will load a page but not really load it. Also redirector pages, etc. All of these pages don't use the IPB skin templates, so they don't load the javascript.2. Google Analytics shows 48%ish of our visitors are FF and 24%ish are IE. Whereas the opposite is true per SSF and Webalizer stats (well FF is 31%ish). So odds are high that it is guests with javascript disabled using IE. Not that they matter anyways, but eh.3. People downloading Continuum from SSO and a few sites I added SSF's download to, get a direct download, and again it doesn't load the javascript, just the file. Was 1 or 2 other thoughts I had about it, but can't remember them right now. But the large difference between the 3 stats softwares had me confused. Especially since SSF and AWStats stats were close, and analytics being so much off. Quote
