PoLiX Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Check the new SSC Acceptance Guidelines up and posted Here. Hopefully we will see more servers applying for SSC, and more zones getting onto SSC hosts.
»doc flabby Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 How do you apply for SSC Access (as a zone host)?
Dr Brain Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Write an email to someone on the council, and they'll forward it on for voting. Active members are preferred for timely handling, of course.
Samapico Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 They should list some contacts or something
MikeTheNose Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 "Sorry officer, I didn't see the sign." http://www.sscouncil.com/members.php
Dr Brain Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 I think Samapico means email addresses.
PoLiX Posted February 5, 2010 Author Report Posted February 5, 2010 Just PM me on SSF like L.C. did... simple. Just need Admins, Zones Hosted, Server Info, IP (for firewall), and any other helpful information.
Samapico Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 I think Samapico means email addresses. That is what I meant, indeed
MikeTheNose Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Email addresses are gold to spammers and ad agencies Personally I fear the spammers over the adders.
Kilo Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Personally, I don't want anyone I don't know contacting me about things that are not my business (their host for example.)
»Purge Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Then post your email addresses as images if you're scared of spammers. Or just use GMail. There should be as many ways as possible of contacting network staff...
L.C. Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 reCAPTCHA, anyone? WordPress has this plugin where you have to click on a piece of text, which triggers a popup or AJAX-based expansion revealing a reCAPTCHA that must be confirmed, and upon confirmation the e-mail address is revealed.

Samapico Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Or make a short form on the website, that is sent to the council... That way you don't have to display the emails anywhere.
MikeTheNose Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Spammers I mean are madcow subspace players. Anyway. The council is in the process of developing a main way to send a message to the council rather than going through a council member.

Hard to implement, no... It shouldn't take long to make. The hardest part would be finding email addresses for everyone.
L.C. Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Perhaps a ticket system?Accord5 TrellisDesk It is free, and we use it at http://support.hlrse.net/. Best helpdesk software I have used. Only thing it lacks is billing integration, live chat, and paging service.
»freakmonger Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 currently out of town on vaction but I'll look into that when I get back.
