Yeah we'll definitely need to see some sort of chart of what is happening over time.

Unless we get one of those annoying ads on youtube before the video you clicked on plays, i'm not really sure what else we can do.

Unless im an idiot, I really dont think the graph PROVES that the activity is because of the advertising.. and thats just for TW, lame. You guys reallllyyy need to TRACK this money your spending, from what site the clicks come from, to how many INDIVIDUAL clicks are used to download the game, then show proof of that.

You are right, they don't. There are so many uncontrolled variables involved that I do not think graphs (at least those in particular) make a difference.

To be able to add even a little meaning, it would be better for full-blown detailed monitoring of zone populations for all SSC zones combined and each SSC zone independently. Plus you also have to factor in the exact date major changes in the AdWords campaign apply (changes come into effect 24 hours after they have been made), holidays, and seasonal breaks. In addition, years of monitoring would be required to look for patterns in order to filter out changes in population as result from irrelevant factors (holidays, seasonal breaks, etc).

All in all though, it would just boil down to a rough estimate (yay or nay middle-ground).

The money is already tracked?

I keep a log of it at http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/SSGoogleAdWords_Ad2.xlsx so that (1) my bank account does not get plundered into overdraft fees and debt, (2) credibility in the sense that I am not hiding anything from the community. I am also willing to give anybody statistics and reports access to the AdWords account (further reinforces #2), as well as to the Analytics account (has profiles for getcontinuum.com, ssforum.net, and subspaceonline.com).

from what site the clicks come from

Over time I have also revealed in the main AdWords thread and another thread where we have been getting traffic from (including clicks onto the Download button for Continuum040Setup.exe).

to how many INDIVIDUAL clicks are used to download the game
I have already posted statistics -- and for anyone who has Analytics access, then can go and personally see for themselves. If you want Analytics access, just message me your e-mail address or donate (I automatically invite all donors).

As you can see, the average time there is good. It means there is a chunk of visitors who are sitting through the download. Whether they install the game after download is beyond me. In my opinion, I would say an average time of at least a minute is sufficient for a "success hit point" (or brownie point).

Ultimately, it would be more useful if Analytics could provide individual-visitor statistics (which unfortunately they do not, probably for good ethics and security reasons) so that we can see exactly who and how many visitors spent at least a minute downloading Continuum040Setup.exe.

EDIT: I came across this though.

Personally, I don't think the advertisements are working. At least based on the above image; it means that 18 people who are coming from the advertisements have an average time of 18 seconds. Otherwise I would be leaning in-between "Yes" and "Maybe."

I propose an experiment: let the advertisements run until Sunday this coming weekend. Then pause the entire advertising campaign for at least 1 week. Then we can compare the statistics to see if it makes a difference.

EDIT2: Also, there is a view for keywords. I consider anything along the lines of "subspace" and "continuum" to be the same as "(direct)" traffic.

Based on this, I would say around 50% of the download clicks are not genuine (or at least the possibility). Just think about it and do the math.

Apologies if I have just brought darkness upon one's bright atmosphere, but I think this is the reality of it. The grass isn't always greener on the other side kids.

Good idea.

I realized something. I do not think Analytics is categorizing the clicks from the AdWords correctly, because we definitely got more than 19 unique from the getcontinuum.com advertising.

This invalidates the negatives I used on the last half of my previous post (the reasoning attached to the three images).
